Wish List: Draft Day
Just like the title of the thread suggests. What kind of draft picks or moves would you like to see KP orchestrate and why? (ie. should we be trying to package talent and pick(s) and moving up into the top of the draft or should we be thinking about selling/trading our pick(s) in package deals with existing players for veteran talent (or a combination of both)?
Bottom Line: what kind or roster do you want to see next summer?

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
Derrick Rose is my ultimate wish list but being more realistic I'd like to see us grab Jarryd Bayless or even OJ Mayo. Trade ups in the drafts obviously can not include LMA, Roy, or Oden and hopefully dont include Outlaw or Martell. I would only Include Outlaw or Martell if we could snag Rose otherwise Id say anyother combination of player/picks would be ok with me. I think Joel is a stud also and would like to see him stay, especially since he choose to stick with Portland for less money back in the Jailblazer days just because he liked the city.

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
I want to see this. It will get us the PG. Get us out of our 2nd rounders which we won't get on the team, and yea.
Jack, Sergio, Frye, 1st, 4 2nds for Memphis' 1st (number5)
We draft Bayless.
Bayless | Blake
Roy | Fernandez
Jones | Webster
Aldridge | Outlaw
Oden | Pryzbilla
amazing 2nd unit, great roster consolidation, amazing starting unit. No real weakness. Dynasty if he can pull that off, imo.
IR is Raef and Darius and McBob. Oversees is Kaponen and Freeland.

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
I'd love to see this team trade up to nab a top 3 PG. If that can't be done, I say trade the pick for veteran SF that can score the ball.

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
Draft day wish #1: win the lotto and move into the top 3. Draft Derrick Rose.
Draft Day wish #2:Trade Raef, Webster, Jack, and Frye to Atlanta for Josh Smith in a sign and trade. If possible, create a trade exception.
Draft Day wish #3: Buy Phoenix's #1 from Atlanta, lets say #15. Draft Kevin Love.
Rose/Blake
Roy/Rudy
Josh Smith/Outlaw
LMA/Kevin Love
Oden/Pryz

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
Realistic draft day hopes...
1) Deal Raef LaFrentz/Channing Frye/Rights to Joel Freeland/MEM 2008 2nd round pick/PDX 2009 2nd round pick to Memphis for Mike Miler & Brian Cardinal
2) Deal our 1st round pick(#13)/Martell Webster/Jarrett Jack/Future protected 1st round pick to move up 5-6 spots and draft OJ Mayo
3) Use the NYK pick to get a banger like Richard Hendrix.
2008/09 Blazers
PG- OJ Mayo/Steve Blake/Sergio Rodriguez
SG- Brandon Roy/Rudy Fernandez/(James Jones)
SF- Mike Miller/Travis Outlaw/James Jones
PF- LaMarcus Aldridge/Travis Outlaw/?Richard Hendrix?
C- Greg Oden/Joel Pryzbilla
Useless IR Baggage- Darius Miles, Brian Cardinal

i would be despondent if either of those trades went down. we get brutally ripped off in both.

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
How do we get ripped off?
The first deal lands us a legitimate starting SF who plays complimentary to both Roy and Oden. We give up one rotation player and some projects/picks that likley will never be Blazers anyways. Mike Miller is an awesome, dead eye shooter who can spread the court, handle the rock and run the break. He is a amazing fit for this team. Taking on Cardinal sucks, but a trade like this would signal the end of the whole 'free agent' plan for 2009(Which is far fetched as it is).
The second deal looks like alot, but it normally takes a lot of value to trade up in a draft. We need to make a deal like this to slim down the roster. Maby adding a protected future 1st is too much, but by the time the pick is due we will likley be picking around 25-30.
I was trying to be realistic, and in the end the roster we end up with is greatly improved over the current one.
And Atlanta would not even deal Josh Smith for Aldridge. He is their franchise player, even over Joe Johnson.

#2: Sign and trades can't be done until a week after the draft.
I'd like to see us package this years, and next years pick with any combination of Frye, Jack, Sergio, and Raef for a veteran PG. I think drafting a PG would just slow the teams development down, whereas with a veteran performer with Oden and Rudy I think this team would have a 50+ win season next year.

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
Guys, this is everyones perfect scenerio. Of course people aren't gonna agree, it is about creativity and what you want.
And i think that drafting a PG from the draft will be good. They will develop with our team. Aldridge is stilldeveloping. Outlaw, Webster, and Oden are. If we get Bayless or Rose, the will be good enough to play NBA ball, to be effective, and to show brilliance on the court. If we can't get Harris or Conley, i really hope we snatch Rose or Bayless.
That person who had
Rose | Blake
Roy | Rudy
Smith | Outlaw
LMA | Love
Oden | Pryz
i like it man. Very cool. That team woudl definitely do well. Smith would be a great addition, just like Iguodala, imo. Dirty work, defense, rebounding, won't complain or anything, and doesn't need "his shots". like it.
I would still love
Bayless | Blake
Roy | Fernandez
Jones | Webster
Aldridge | Outlaw
Oden | Pryzbilla
cuz i feel that might be the most realistic scenerio. But a lot of the things proposed on this thread are awesome!

a consolidated roster as far as depth/talent. Combine a couple assets into another stud for the rotation. I don't really care if it's for a higher draft pick or a vet. With Rudy and Greg's addition in mind I think that top talent could be added at just about any spot save the 5.

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
well take the best player avaible that we can get....be that threw a trade up or trading the pick and a player(s)
then draft Nathan Jawai nice big bruiser type that can stay overseas......
get a veteran sf or leader like Jones but that has better wheels.

I want to see us package any combo of players (except Oden, Aldridge, and Roy) with our draft picks and get C.Paul!

Re: Wish List: Draft Day
Darek Rose is a pipe dream that is most likley not going to happen. I really dought a sh*tty team is going to give up that draft pick. OJ Mayo on the other hand is alot more practical and would be a vary nice fit playing next to Brandon Roy.
