Re: Roy out for a few weeks (possibly the season)?
If he can play, we need him to play. He has to get used to playing an 82 game season. Plus playoffs, down the road. Hopefully, he'll feel better in a few weeks so that he can finish out the year. He needs that experience if we're ever gonna go all the way.

Re: Roy out for a few weeks (possibly the season)?
Anyone think that the Blazers playing a month early may be effecting them now physically? If they hadn't they might not have came together as well as they did earlier in the season, but they might not have hit the wall as early either.

I guess that all depends on how physical those practices and scrimmages were. I kind of doubt that them getting together meant they were hard-fouling each other and trying to kill themselves, but rather were trying to get in shape (if they were ever out of shape?), and try to develop some on-court chemistry before the "show" started.

Re: Roy out for a few weeks (possibly the season)?
Supposedly, some teams like the Heat, are real bad at rehabbing players and more importantly keeping them conditioned so they don't get injured, and teams like the Suns have a health and fittness guru who really keeps players like Nash and others conditioned against getting injured. I think with all the injuries and problems we have seen on the Blazers over the past few years, the Blazers may need to upgrade from Jay Jenson or get someone to work alongside him to work on core strengthening and conditioning. Injuries are a part of the NBA, but it sure seems like some teams are much better at prevention than others.
As far Roy, I think he may be suffering from too much pressure be placed on him. Not only is he playing a ton of minutes, but he is also the emotional leader and a gym rat. He is a very strong individual, but he has very little help around him to take some of the pressure off. Hopefully, Oden, Rudy, and more mature Aldridge and Outlaw will be able to shoulder some of his burden next year which will result in a healthier Roy. I am not only talking about injuries here, but Roy has been sick with the flu or something similar 3 times this year. It takes a lot out of you to always be the focus and have little help.

Ya, and the tactic teams have taken against Roy is to punish him when he goes inside. Unfortunately the refs allow them to do it. He though he's a all-star he's not getting all star treatment from the refs.

I think this might be because he never complains. You see most stars in the league complain nonstop to the refs and I think, although it's super annoying, it works. If Roy does not start getting respect from the refs through his play, he may need to learn how to lobby.

Re: Roy out for a few weeks (possibly the season)?
I saw B.Roy in the Rose Room on the club level after the celtics game. He showed up there with the rest of the Blazers squad for Black History month. He was holding his son and he wasn't limping. So this is a good sign. J.Jones was in that brown blazer suit of his.
P.S. I'm a RG employee so I will give u screened info.

Re: Roy out for a few weeks (possibly the season)?
I seem to remember that when preseason rolled around, Outlaw didn't play very well and he said that he took the offseason off because he didn't want to get hurt and that he would play his way back into shape. He was criticized for that remark in this forum. Well look who's playing at the top of his game right now? Interesting.....

I think this is great news. The one thing this team needs more than anything is more Jarrett Jack. I predict a playoff push with him as our starting 2 guard.

I don't think the pre-season workouts had anything to do with our 13-game winning streak. If that extra month of work had paid off, you would have seen the results right away. Instead, we went 5-12 to start the season.

The only thing that had anything to do with our win streak was uncanny shooting. You simply can't win in this league on nothing but jumpers. Nate really needs to design his offense so more player are cutting to the basket. Instead he has the pick and roll. That's a fine offense, just not the best one for this team.

Well, it sure worked for 13 games!

I agree completely. That's what I like most about Jack--he really tries to take it to the rim every time he's in the game. Outlaw is another guy who should be going to the rim. He's got such quickness and leaping ability that he should be able to take advantage of people inside.
