OT: Oregon State Beavers basketball
So I saw this thread on the ESPN Pac-10 boards, and decided to see what you guys think. Thought it was interesting.
Quote:
The Beavers are the only team in conference history to go 0-18. That puts them in a category all by themselves.
But it doesn't stop there. The beavers also have absolutely ridiculous OOC losses, like a 13 point setback to Colorado St., who just wrapped up an 0-16 Mountain West Conference campaign--making the rams the only MWC team in history to go winless in conference play.
The beavers also managed to lose to Alaska-Fairbanks, Idaho St., Montana St., and Tennessee Tech by 17 (yes, the same TTU that lost to North Dakota St. by 20 on their home floor). The beavers did manage a close loss to 2008 SEC cellar dweller and 13-17 overall LSU.
The beavers wins are over S.C.-Upstate(who is this?), UC-Davis, UC-Bakersfield, Portland, Northern Colorado (this is probably the beavers marquee win of the season) and the first matchup against Idaho St. (the beavers would make up for this win by losing to the Bengals of Pocatello, Idaho in the rematch).
The highlight of the beavers season came when several of their players challenged some Husky players, and Marcel Jones quipped to the bewildered UW players that, "Our record doesn't show how good we are." I'm sure that the after the 9th place Huskies took a break from conference play and beat the Beavers 97-59, they were wondering if Jones was insinuating that their 6-19 record at the time was an overstatement of their skill level.
After looking over the beavers wretched OOC losses, and their 0-18 conference finish, there is no doubt. This is the worst Pac-10 team in history.

So what do you guys think? Worst team in Pac-10 Bball history?

Beaver baseball is doing good!

^Beaver baseball and football is good, they will right the ship dude. I just thought it was a nice, humerous post. Didn't mean for it to upset any beaver fans.

Re: OT: Oregon State Beavers basketball
Truth hurts!
Ducks fans are going to love this thread. Most of them jump at the chance to diss the Beavs when they are down.
Who in the world are the Beavs going to get to coach now? What GOOD coach would want to come to a program that wont offer a competive salary (for hoop coach's) and just went 0-18 in its conference? We are going to have to go after someone with not much if any D1 experience and hopefully they pan out.

In defense of my pathetic Beavers hoops team... the Pac 10 is the toughest conference in the country this year.

Re: OT: Oregon State Beavers basketball
What pisses me off as a Ducks fan is that Oregon always got their opponents' all-out best effort in their conference games this year, because those same teams didn't have to worry about shelling out any effort whatsoever to beat the Beavs in the other game of the Oregon/Oregon State weekend.
In the Thursday games against OS, most opponents were resting their starters with 10 minutes to go in the game 90% of the time. Then they could roll into the second game with Oregon on Saturday with a rested team - mentally and physically.
Yeah - candidly - I don't mind seeing the Beavs get smacked around in conference, but I wish they wouldn't be SUCH DOORMATS that it hurts the Ducks in the other game.

Re: OT: Oregon State Beavers basketball
the facilities are so bad at osu for hoops. I don't think they will ever be a power again. They may have a couple 1-2 year stretches like WSu is showing, but Corvallis is too hard to recruit on a consistent basis. You can't bank on finding diamonds in the rough every year, and WSU will find that out when their senior class goes bye-bye.
And yes, they are the worst pac-10 team EVER!...until next years team shows up

What is hilarious is I heard Ernie say this on ESPN about a week ago. It was a deliberate cheap shot at the beevs... but it is 100% true.
