Re: Game Thread: Timberwolves @ Blazers (3-15-08)
Took the kiddies to the game last night - all decked out in our red jerseys (Aldridge, Roy, Big Oden and little Charles Barkley McOden).
A few comments:
That foul and tech on Roy were TOTAL BS. Never touched the guy and didn't jump up and down or yell and scream to show up the ref.
Why is it every time we play Minnesota Ryan Gomes looks like an all-star? I know he's not that good, but it seems like he always scores a lot against us. He kept Minnesota in the game in the first half.
Minnesota shot lights out in the first half, but the Blazer shot almost as well. Even Corey Brewer shot well in the first half (I think he was 4-5). Clean game without a lot of fouls. I don't think either team missed a FT in the first half. However, the Timberwolves couldn't hit a 3-pointer to save their lives.
The "Sophomore Slump" and the "Wall" are both myths. Aldridge scored 20+ for the sixth straight game and Roy has cracked 20 in 8 of the last 9. Roy continues to play at an all-star level and Aldridge is coming on strong at the end of the season. Combined, I think they are playing their best ball of the season right now. As a result, the team has won four of the last six (and only one of those games - last night - was at home).
Excellent ball movement by the team. They were patient on offense and got the ball to Aldridge when he was hot/open and got the ball to James Jones when he was left open in the corner. As a result, the team shot 53% from the field and 57% from 3-point range and had 32 assists (9 for Roy, 8 for Jack and 7 for Blake). You won't lose many games with those kinds of numbers.
Good win, fun time at the game with the kids.
BTW, that's the 11th game I've been to this year (with one, or more, of my kids) and the Blazers are 11-0 in those games (and we've gotten Chalupas six times). They REALLY need to just GIVE us season tickets next year.
