Re: ot: semi-organized basketball in Portland

thanks for the responses everyone. for me, anywhere outside of Portland is just not possible. I rarely ever drive my car b/c i dont need to, the last thing I want to do is be caught driving from the city to the 'burbs after work.

w/ that being said, I may take a stab at recbasketball.com simply for the price-pre-game. Plus, if i can get in at Warner Pacific college, that would be great.

Re: ot: semi-organized basketball in Portland

Sorry to bump this up, but I figured that it would be better than starting a new thread. I'm likely moving to Portland here in the next month - have a job interview in the Bancorp Tower on Tuesday - and am looking for a place to live. Right now, if things turn out good, it'll be a few blocks from PGE Park. Anyways, are there no good places to play basketball pick-up games in Portland? Do you have to drive out to Beaverton or beyond? Thanks for the help everyone!

Check out the ballers network application on facebook. http://ballersnetwork.com/

It just started and is growing, but the idea is that people will be able to go on there and setup their own games or find games. If it takes off, which I think it will, it could be very cool.

Re: ot: semi-organized basketball in Portland

for PGE park area you'll be looking at chapman park for some semi decent pick up games (NW 25th).

Re: ot: semi-organized basketball in Portland

What about not a park, but rather a gym. Since it rains 13 months out of the year, it'd be nice to find a place to get a run or two where it's covered. Thanks.

Re: ot: semi-organized basketball in Portland

The Federal Prison at Sheridan has a basketball court that would leave most high schools drooling with envy, with it's own mini-version of the Jumbotron.

Games are played daily, there's no fee per se, and anyone can get in.

Getting out may be a problem though.

Re: ot: semi-organized basketball in Portland

The Southwest Community Center has pickup games starting at 7:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays for 18 and over. The competition is pretty good there are lots of college and former highschool players who show up. Its not in downtown but it only a 10 minute drive.
