I will also not be surprised if anybody else outside of the big 3 is dealt. The way I see it here's our future depth chart...

c- Oden, ?
pf- Aldridge, ?
sf- ?, ?
sg- Roy, ?
pg- ?, ?

Nobody currently on the team has proven enough to earn one of those spots yet.

Oh, but it's good you mentioned it because it's not true. Outlaw has played at the 4 all season. Nate has come out and said he won't play Outlaw at the 3. To say that Outlaw can just slide to the 3 is one of those great on paper, maybe not so great in real life ideas.

Maybe. But it's not like we're talking about dumping him. We're talking about trying to package him with others for a better player at a position of need. Same as with everybody else. It's not like we'd trade Jack and end up with a giant hole at backup shooting guard. Just like if we traded Outlaw we'd have someone to play backup power forward or if we traded Webster we'd find a way to get another starting small forward.

I know that we will hear from the "worst draft", "makes mistake", "free Sergio" group - but some of these people also advocated the 'Stache over Roy back when there was still a debate about this issue...
Really? Can you back that up? Do you have a bunch of posts from noted pro-Sergio folks saying we should pick the 'Stache over Roy? I highly doubt it.

And even if you do it doesn't make your point any more valid. Just because someone was wrong about one thing two years ago doesn't mean they're wrong about this too.

I'm all for keeping Jack. It wouldn't be a bad thing if he stayed with the team. But I'd love to see us bundle him with one or more of Outlaw / Frye / Webster / Sergio / Whoever for a player that's a better point guard than Jack.

82 Games

Look at the first table, rows 17 and 18.

Very few things always or never happen.

Interesting table. I found myself looking not just at 17 and 18 but also 16 and 8 quite a lot. I'm not sure what to make of it all, but it's interesting.

The +/- stats can be a little misleading, because starters go up against starters and bench goes up against bench. So, theoretically a bad team with a good bench playing a good team with a thin bench will make the bad teams bench players look better than they are. However, there are some general trends that you can take out of it. In this case, scoring from both 4 and 5 positions seems to be beneficial.

You could also look at the individual statistics and show that McBob is the best player on the team.

If you read between the lines a little, it doesn't sound like Jack will be going anywhere. Next year, if we add Rudy and Oden, Jack will still be the number two guy at slashing and drawing contact. Rudy can shoot, and he gets some nice ally-oops, but he isn't the kind of guy who drives into heavy traffic well.

Personally, I'm fine with that. If Brandon ever goes down next year, I think we will be really glad we kept him.
Actually, if you listened to the rest of what KP said, especially when he described what kind of player Rudy was, the first things he mentioned were Rudy's free-flowing style and ABILITY TO GET TO THE HOOP and finish or get fouled. ....so what are you talking about?

Re: KP's comments on Jack

Of course it's easy to praise Jack for what he does well...virtually everything else is horrible. I'd like to also add that I cringe every time he touches the ball...

Re: KP's comments on Jack

Jack, shrug.

We have 3 starters (Oden, LMA, Roy) and two bench players (Rudy, Outlaw).
We should be willing to trade any OR ALL of the others to get a young top notch
PG or SF. Of course, that is easier said than done. Dallas just traded
one of those, and we weren't involved. Obviously, we tried, and will
continue to try in the future.

Now, some of the players are worth more to us than to other teams (Joel),
so it's not likely that player would get traded. But, if another team
really wanted Joel in a package, he'd be traded.
