Re: Frye hopes to remain in Portland

We keep him because he is relatively cheap and comes off the books after next year. We can decide what to do with him at that time.

Re: Frye hopes to remain in Portland

I like Frye. However, I suspect he's going to be the center piece of a trade that brings us our starting pg.

Example: Frye + Jack + 13th pick to New Jersey for Devin Harris + whatever.

New Jersey needs a big and Frye might be a luxury we can live without. We can plug Outlaw or McBob into the backup pf position.

Maybe Frye to Chicago for Hinrich. Chicago also needs a good big.

Re: Frye hopes to remain in Portland

I really think one or two of Joel, Channing or Travis needs to go. Any of them along with another piece or two should be able to bring us something valuable in return.

They all have their issues, but in reality Frye probably has the most complete game.

Joel is a huge offensive liability
Travis can't really guard 3's or 4's, and has a low b-ball IQ
Frye doesn't have that great of a low post game, but he doesn't need one with both Oden and Aldridge

Re: Frye hopes to remain in Portland

Yes most likely, but i'm worried because keeping him means most likely not keeping Jones.

Hopefully Jones and Sergio can be our 11th and 12th men though. That would be awesome!

Blake | Jack
Roy | Rudy
Webster | Outlaw
Aldridge | Frye
Oden | Pryzbilla

Jones, Sergio, LaFrentz
Overseas: Kaponen, Freeland
Gone: Wafter, McRoberts, Miles

thats probably what it looks like right now. I do like Frye, and if he realyl does want to stay in portland and would sign a contract and stay for like 4ish years, that would be awesome. I would definitley do that, as he would be awesome playing the PF position next to Joel in the 2nd unit. I'm just worried about him leaving after next year for a starter role, which would suck because we would have probably have given Jones away.

Re: Frye hopes to remain in Portland

We keep Frye, he's a perfect second unit player and I think he'll get better every year. I'd part with Travis!! He only knows how to get his shot, doesn't make his teamates better, and can't play defense. Can anyone disagree with that?
