Blazers or Knicks............
Which franchise is/was in worse shape? The Knicks today? or my Blazers 3 years ago?

Re: Blazers or Knicks............
Probably the Blazers 3 years ago ... then again I'm not sure Knicks fans have the patience for a 3 years fix, which makes getting out of their particular situation much more tenuous.

Re: Blazers or Knicks............
The Knicks hands down.
I think the Blazers of old just got a bad wrap, there are plenty of teams with worse players that aren't getting the same media attention. Also in the Jail Blazers era we played well, won games, and continued to make it to the playoffs. However the Knicks have become a laughing stock from top to bottom while under Zeke. From mismanagement of players, to consistently having one of the worst records in a weak conference, and very very very bad player contracts.
I feel bad for Knicks fans because we all know what it's like to be at the bottom of the league. Plus what must really hurt is that they really don't have any way out yet, Donnie Walsh has a lot of work to do.

Re: Blazers or Knicks............
I'd hate to say it.. but I think the Blazers.
Losing hundreds of millions of dollars... 8,000 to 9,000 people showing up to games.. the arena was sold and the team wasn't making any money... creepy Steve Patterson was running the team... the bankruptcy... Paul Allen looking to find a new owner...
It was REALLY bad. But it's close though. The Knicks are in very very bad shape as well.

Re: Blazers or Knicks............
The Knicks - good luck getting out from those contracts. At least many of our overpaid headcases actually had talent and were able to be moved (albeit for firesale prices). Who's going to agree to take any of the Knick malcontents?

New York has it worse, because they have a ton of cap killing contracts that have many years left. So, you take that into consideration, along with both of those teams have Randolf fat his way up and down the court and you have to give the nod to New York as being in worse shape.

Re: Blazers or Knicks............
The Knicks are in way worse shape than we were, no contest. We were able to get out from under our bad contracts and undesirable players in record time. Heck, we only had 3 losing seasons, for crying out loud. Talk about tearing down and rebuilding in a hurry. We are in great shape now, and our future never actually seemed hopeless, we just knew we would have some growing pains. The Knicks -- Hopeless.

Re: Blazers or Knicks............
The thing is that the Knick this year is pretty close to being the Knicks the two previous years. Sure their record may vary, but isn't the story basically the same? Huge salary, lousy team. At least Portland got better each year.
Their salary next year is 91 million? They have another three years of being bad.

I agree with ironcrotch and BBert. Knicks are in worse shape.

Re: Blazers or Knicks............
Knicks. We had some bad contracts, but our main problem was the fact our players got in trouble so often. NYK has a absurd amount of bad contracts, so many that they are 4 years at least from contending in any form of way, and even then only if run to near perfection.

Re: Blazers or Knicks............
It would be easy to say the Knicks right now, unless they get someone in there who can change their lineup in three years. Portland had some bad contracts, but at least they were in the playoffs for some of it. Plus the drama that surrounded the Jail Blazers was not as magnified by the media as the drama surrounding New York on a national scale. The scandalous stuff was heavier for the Blazers on the player side, and probably equivalent from a front office stand point. Portland had less stability with the ownership issue, and Portland is a one-sport town.
It might be something we have to look at in hind sight since we have a happy ending in Portland, while New York still has a few years to catch up to this point.

Re: Blazers or Knicks............
The Knicks -- they don't have a team like... well, like the Knicks to trade their overpaid primas to.
It's like they painted themselves into a corner.
