Nightmare Finals matchup: Lakers/Celtics
I'm going to need a barf bucket next to my couch for about a month if I have to listen to the media slobber all over the collective genitals of those two franchises.

Re: Nightmare Finals matchup: Lakers/Celtics
The alternative is a Spurs-Pistons matchup which makes me want to fall asleep just thinking about it.

Agreed.
I think those two matchups (LAL/BOS or SAS/DET) would be horrid. I'd be OK with PHX or NOH in the West and, well ... who cares about the East.

Re: Nightmare Finals matchup: Lakers/Celtics
The Lakers/Celtics matchup will be the best matchup for the NBA. ABC needs it and the NBA desperately needs it. What, you want San Antonio to win again and drive ratings to an all time low?
FYI, the Lakers and the Celtics are my two least favorite teams.

The NBA is doing fine, although I agree Lakers and Celtics would be a ratings grabber. Phoenix would get ratings as well, and I'd be much happier to see them in there than I would the Lakers. They were much more fun when Kobe was crying on a daily basis to the media about how he wanted to get traded.

Re: Nightmare Finals matchup: Lakers/Celtics
Dude...you are calling LA/BOS a "horrid" series?!? Stop with the fandom for a second and think about that...Not only historically it would be good but also the matchups....cmon, get real...It would be sweet for the entire NBA

I know you hate the Lakers, but a Celtics/Lakers NBA Finals would be far from horrid.

Barf. I can't think of two less deserving franchises or cities. The Lakers? Well - they don't deserve squat. And the Celtics? Yeah - because Boston sports fans sure are long-suffering. They haven't won a world championship in that city in about 6 months!
And the fact the media would play clips over and over with Bird and Magic and Kareem and Wilt and Russell ad nauseum - like it has anything to do with the current series ... ugh. Gag me.
Considering probably 3/4 of the rosters of either team wasn't even born when the Lakers/Celtics rivalry was relevant, I think we can scrap the whole "historically significant" crap.

I think I would have an orgasm over a New Orleans/Orlando Finals.
