Er... why not? Is there a joke I'm missing?
It seems to me it matters who a player is playing with, if one is thinking about it as a trade. Is that your point, that because we're not (in this discussion) thinking of it as a trade, teammates don't matter?

Aldridge is so much better than West it's ridiculous. He manufactures almost all of his points himself. All West has to do is catch the ball from Chris Paul all day for a dunk. Put Chris Paul with Aldridge and he averages 25 ppg, no doubt.

thats Chandler's offensive game. West gets his mostly on spot up jumpers around the high post.
To the thread question... despite West being 5 years older, I think these two are already pretty even. As others have noted LA also has more size and length. I'm not sure what a West supporter would hang their hat on if choosing between these two.

Re: Would you trade Aldridge for West straight up?
I understand the CP trade discussion (even if I wouldn't do it), but I don't get this one.
West is a good player, but they're pretty much on par with each other...and LaMarcus is 5 years younger and taller. New Orleans should be happy with West, and we're happy with LaMarcus.

Right now, It's West > Aldridge. In five years, it's Aldridge > West.

Would you trade Josh McRoberts for Chris "Birdman" Andersen?

Re: Would you trade Aldridge for West straight up?
It's actually pretty close even now, with West having an edge because his midrange jumper is money. I think West has already peaked, and you'll probably get similar production from him for the next few years. Aldridge may be better as soon as next year. He is much younger, and he has a higher ceiling (literally and figuratively).
