OT:Portlander to take over Heat
I heard Eric Spolstra (sp) is going to be the Heat's new coach. Good for him! I remember when he used to play out at Jesuit.

It will be cool if the Heat give him a shot. He's been an asst. there for a looooong time and seems to be well respected/liked by the Heat organization.

I am not sure why folks would be happy for him. It's like being told to take out the trash or picking up crap. Basically Riley is just giving the job because he no longer wants to do it now that the Heat are losing. If the owner of the Heat was smart, he would have fired Riley once he started taking games off during the season.

I remember playing hoops against/with him a few years back, during the summers at the MAC. It will be interesting to see how he does, and now I can see how I matched up to an NBA head coach.  |

Here's all of you doubting Thomas' link.
As for a job no one wants.....The Heat play in the leastern conference. They are a team that was obliterated with injuries this season, and have two of the better players in the league on their roster. They also have a real opportunity to score well in the draft. Spoelstra will have zero pressure on him because of the year they had, and will probably do really well and guide them to the playoffs.
