What city blocks are those with the Baseball stadium sketch? Car parking looks like a B^&tch there.

Of course, if you believe in what history tells us about big vision projects in Portland, it'll die a slow death, wrapped in the red tape of Portland's 9-million tiers of goverment, planning agencies, and neighborhood associations.

Cool, another tall building next to I-5 / RG which we can string up another "Rise With Us" banner.

All of those were interesting ideas that should have been further explored but died on the vine from overanalyzation and too much authority granted to neighborhood associations.

I'd love it if one of these ideas eventually comes to fruition, but I don't see anything in the current setup to suggest anything different in the future. Not when we have a mayor who overdemocratizes every decision. We really need a mayor who finds the balance between handing down decisions "from on high" and begging for permission from every citizen who lives in a 2 mile radius from a proposed project.

Nice how in that view the new building is right in front of the ugly grain silos. =)

Re: OT: Lloyd District

I agree about the big projects in Portland. The all seem to die a slow painful death.

The Convention Center has been planning a Convention Hotel that has been ongoing for 20 years.

Portland has a lot going for itself. The only downside is the existence of Vancouver, Wa and the Lloyd District.

If any of y'all have a serious interest in news about buildings and such, you might want to check out this forum: skyscraperpage

At least one of our other forum regulars has been known to post there.

Re: OT: Lloyd District

Why even bother? Don't we need all that space so that people can charge us $20 for two hours worth of parking on a game day?
