Re: KP scouting in western Europe
I'll be curious to see how many of our second round picks we use on European players this year. We could certainly use them as trade bate, but there is something nice about taking a flyer on a European player, letting them get lots of PT in Europe, and then snagging them back over if they develop. If they don't develop, you cut them loose and it cost you nothing more than the pick. I wish more second round American players would do this. It would be good experience for them.

Re: KP scouting in western Europe
I don't think it's anything as dramatic as Gallinari. Mostly because I think it's going to be damn near impossible to trade up in this year's draft. Gallinari is one of the 7-10 guys that look like locks as far as becoming something in the NBA in this draft. I just can't imagine someone in the top 10 trading out when we're offering up the likes of Jarrett Jack, Travis Outlaw and Martell Webster.
I'm thinking it's more likely he's scouting out possible second rounders that are likely to stay in Europe a few more years.
Edit: Having read the article I'm even more sure of my opinion that they're scouting second rounders rather than someone they might take with 13. It's ridiculously obvious to anyone that the Euros that might be available at 13 are Batum and Gallinari. For Buchanan to say that he doesn't want to discuss who we're scouting because it'll tip our hand tells me it's not those guys.
EVERYBODY will be over there scouting those guys. It's not gonna tip your hand to say that you're scouting those two. It'd be like saying we've scouted Eric Gordon and Jerryd Bayless. Of course we've scouted those guys.

Last night I had a dream that I a skylight was stuck and I could not open it. When I finally got it open, it turned into a grain silo and I was being trapped by copious amounts of seeds. But then I had the idea to open up the hatch so the birds could eat my way out. It was a freaking weird dream and I have no explanation for it. But I am hoping that it means we get Rose in the draft. lol

Okay, so you represent the Blazers, the open space represents the #1 pick. The seed is all the ping pong balls from the other teams that the Blazers have to get through. You (the Blazers) open the door for Brandon Roy (the birds) to clear a path (by his good luck) to escape the copious amounts of ping pong balls and find your way to freedom, therein picking Rose.
See how simple it is?

Re: KP scouting in western Europe
If we do get the 13th pick, then I just hope that there is a hidden gem of talent waiting there like the year Sabby "Steal-O-Draft" Telfair was drafted!!!

Re: KP scouting in western Europe
If they are in western Europe, I think it has to be two among Gallinari, Batum, Ajinca or De Colo. None of their teams are really elite ones European-wise (Armani Jeans Milano was one of the worst squads in the Euroleague and barely made the playoffs in the extremely weakened Italian league).
De Colo could be indeed a nice fit offensively given his versatility playing both guard positions, although his defense is pretty underwhelming. Anyway, he's a pretty talented guy, a nice option for the second round.

Just another excuse for KP to chase foreign women and gamble in posh private clubs on Paul's dime.
Livin' the dream.

I think they're just spouting the company policy of not "tipping their hand" rather
than anything specific to this trip.
