Attributes - Aldridge Rating
OK, so I thought it would be fun during the off-season for us to go through each player and rate them from 1-10 on a bunch of attributes. I will post a new player to rate every couple days, but will keep the same attributes for each player. I have come up with a pretty long list of attributes, some more important than others, and some more important for one position than another, but we may be able to see some interesting comparisons once we have rated each player. Once we have done every player i will create a spreadsheet to show averages and comparisons.
Today we will start by rating Aldridge from 1-10 on every attribute. 1=terrible 10=incredible

Nope, looking at the strengths and weaknesses on Draftexpress.com. most of the attributes came directly from there. Oh well, I guess no one else is interested in this, I thought it would be fun. Onto the next subject.

Re: Attributes - Aldridge Rating
There's just too many. narrow it down to about 10-15 and I think people would be more willing to "play"

not worth it, let the thread die. The whole thing that interested me about this in the first place was trying to be comprehensive. I thought for a long time and really tried to cover all areas of the game (I'm sure i missed some). I think it's not the right type of question for a forum where things are often more general.

Re: Attributes - Aldridge Rating
I'll admit straight up that I don't nearly have enough talent evaluation ability to make those kinds of super in-depth judgments about a player's ability.

Re: Attributes - Aldridge Rating
Keep posting your comprehensive evaluations. I like it and I bet many others do too. The more detailed the better. Don't let it die. We don't have to post our own evaluations. We can just read yours, and argue over them piecemeal.

I sort of disagree with the Defined role (not a tweener) category. LA can guard most 4s and 5s. And while his offensive game is currently best suited for the high post, he can post up down low some as well.
To me the term tweener has bad connotations when a player isn't able to really fit into a traditional position role usually due to limited size or skills. But if a player's skills/abilities span more then one traditional positional role (like LA and Roy), thats a real positive because it gives a team more options within the flow of the game. LA's ability to effectively guard a variety of players is especially valuable on D as picks and rotations have players switching who they're guarding a lot. This is especially true for Bigs when a team is employing a zone.
Partially because of this, I'd definitely disagree with GOD's 4's & 5's ratings on the defensive end. I think he's a better then average player on that end of the court. He uses his great length effectively, has quick feet, and seems to disrupt the offensive flow/prevent good looks pretty well. Watching his rebounds, blocks, and steals stats steadily climb throughout the year enforced my opinion that he's going to form a great interior defensive tandem with Greg.
*side note* I just had memory flashes of a couple of my favorite LA high lights this year. I remember Iverson getting him in clear out isolations a couple times, and LA forcing ugly rafter scraping jumpers. On the other end, remember the consecutive right hand and then left hand hook shots he hit against the Lakers? My jaw about hit the floor.

Re: Attributes - Aldridge Rating
I just wanted to say I appreciate God's effort in creating this idea and congratulate him on the comprehensive list of traits. Also like to give positive feedback to Hector for adding to the thread with some good ideas and organization.
