make everyoe available except for Josh Howard. I have said Dirk is overated and he is. I don't think he's a franchise player but he's a good player. The big thing the mavs need is a low post up player. Now if this is the case and Cuben had a fire sale, Would you trade Aldridge in a trade for Dirk?:smoothcriminal:

Not in a million years. I would only take Howard from the Mavs. Dirk is good but not great and way over priced. He is also out of our window of opportunity. Too old with many miles on his body.

dirk actually showed up for the playoffs. josh howard shot 29%. but the mavs need to get rid of everyone put howard? it would make more sense for dallas to try to keep dirk, terry, and bass(the three guys who actually came to play in the playoffs) and try to move everyone else. only problem is they aren't going to get anything for dampier, howard definitely hurt his value, and kidd only has value as an expiring contract.

A young LAMA for a soft, old 7-footer who plays down to 6'7"? Dirk is maybe the most overrated player in the game. The Blazers don't need to make changes, they need to get all of their guys healthy and gain some experience - with each other and in the playoffs. Portland will rock by standing pat.

BINGO! Just go over to the Mavs board. A lot of their fans are screaming to blow up that team - STARTING with Dirk. Others are screaming to dump Howard. Terry might be worth having, but there is nobody else the Mavs currently have that Portland needs in the least.

What is funny about the Mavs vis a vis the Blazers, is the player we most coveted on their team - Devin Harris - is gonzo.

Though that team has plenty of talent still, the rest of the roster doesn't seem to posess the right combination of talent/skillset/age/contract to make us want to pay the price that would be required.

I would love to poach Howard or Dirk, despite their history of bad playoff performances, but the cost would be too high to make sense for our long-term future.

Odd thought of the day... Who's the GM in Dallas? Who do you call to check on player availability? We always hear about Mark Cuban making trades, but I assume someone else has the General Manager nameplate on their door... Cuban has put his mark on that team so extensively, there's no one there to take the fall (meaningfully) now that he's swung for the fence (Kidd) and missed.

Cuban isnt going to blow up the team yet. This one will be blamed on the coach. I bet there is a small to medium roster change then Dallas will reload with a new coach and a year of Kidd to gel with the team. After next year Kidd is off the books and Dallas will be looking for some big moves if they dont produce this year.
