Would you trade Oden for Chris Paul
Paul had one of the best seasons a PG has ever had. He is killing in the playoffs. We saw that awesome chemistry he had with Brandon Roy in the All-Star game when they were out-playing the leagues best. But Oden is one of the great recent big man prospects and big men have usually had more success getting titles.
So what say you?

Re: Would you trade Oden for Chris Paul
I said yes because Paul is a proven commodity, Oden still has major injury concerns and might never be a great offensive player. Paul is already an MVP candidate and possibly the best player in the league.

Re: Would you trade Oden for Chris Paul
No because we'd still be bad on the glass and have no interior defense.

Co-sign. We already have a good PG (once we put Roy there full time) and we don't need 2 good PG's. I am not saying Roy is CP3 level, but close enough for me.
Oden is going to be a BEAST!!! Just wait. It is unfair to make these trade ideas when we haven't even seen the kid play. I think we are all going to be pleasantly surprised when we see our boy play.

I'm a huge fan of CP, but I don't think he'd put this Blazer squad over the top like Oden stands to. I'm very comfortable with having the ball in Roy's hands and am bouncing off the walls at the possibilities of adding Greg to the mix.

Keep in mind that Chris Paul is already a beast.
Also keep in mind that Brandon Roy is a better SG that he is a PG. He and Chris Paul would instantly becaome the best backcourt tandem in the league for the next 10 years.
Oden is SUPPOSED to be great, but Chris Paul already is

Re: Would you trade Oden for Chris Paul
right after the draft it would have been no, but now it's an absolute no-brainer. paul has proven his potential ceiling is no less than the greatest pure PG of all time, and that he can carry an otherwise average team to championship contending level. for all oden's potential as of now he has proven exactly nothing except that he might be injury-prone. if (in somebody's dream world) that scenerio were available you'd have to do it.

I hear ya but I don't agree. I think Roy is a better PG then SG. To each his own!

Re: Would you trade Oden for Chris Paul
The thought of a Paul/Roy guard combo brings to mind the Jordan/Pippen combo (although in slightly different positions). It would be a killer combo.
Add to that LMA and our other supporting pieces (including such upcoming supporting members as Rudy) I think would make for a very formidable team. I think with Joel, LMA and and a semi-decent SF, we'd be an incredible team.
Much as I'm looking forward to Oden, I think I'd do the trade.

Well we'll see. If Rudy is half as good as advertised Roy should be able to play full time at the point if he can handle it. I have questions about him being able to play there and defend the other teams quick little PG's.

Re: Would you trade Oden for Chris Paul
You NEVER trade a big for a small, CP3 is a great player, but he is no Greg Oden.

Re: Would you trade Oden for Chris Paul
The last time a great small PG was the go-to guy and #1 star of a championship team was when Isiah was a great player and Detroit won...
Since - we have seen great big man being the star or the ingredient that enabled a great guard to win it all multiple times - in Hakeem, Shaq and Timmy-D.
Saying Oden could be this guy for this time is a risk - but it is a risk worth taking, imho.
