Hard worker, fan favorite... bruiser in the middle with a decent shot.
Latino to fit in with Sergio and Rudy (and Jose when KP miracles him somehow )
Would we have room for him?
Najera is a horrible player in my book. He is like Ruben Patterson without the off court antics. For every hustle play he makes, he makes 2 to 3 bad plays.

I hate Najera -- unless he is on my team. He is a lunchpail guy. Could be a glue player who just likes to do what he can to help the team win and never seems to give up. He is not a scorer, but is a rebounder. I think he could help the team, but until some moves are made with the current roster he is not worth a roster spot.
when i see najera i think of joakim noah, and tyler hansbrough. None of them i want on my team; Ruben Patterson included. Their athleticism cannot compete at this level and the only attribute they all were known for was their passion and intensity and hard work. And so far, it doesnt appear that it has gotten Noah or Najera anywhere in the NBA. My guess is Special T ends up in the same boat as those other two.
But if we somehow decide to grab najera i would suggest going after Tyler before anyone else because he is a younger, more talented version of Najera.

we have a fine roster, no need to bring in every single player that is a free agent.
Actually we don't have a "fine" roster.
What we have is......
3 back up at best PG's on our roster
1 really good SG
3 back up SF's
1 really good PF
1 average back up PF
1 totally unproven center prospect that is supposed to be good
1 decent back up center
That's it. That is not a "fine" roster. That is a roster that needs adjusting

We can't offer Najera a contract because of the '09 cap room plan. He'll want a multi-year deal and we just can't take that cost for a backup player 1 year before possible major cap room.
As Masbee has pointed out before, that is the crappy part of the plan; you put yourself in a situation where you have to give up decent players and not sign the MLE level free agents. It appears your giving yourself free agent options but in actuality you have to impose a lot of restrictions on your franchise. It could cause a big payoff, like Orlando had in signing Rashard Lewis and renouncing their restricted free agents, but most likely it will just cost you a number of talents like Eduardo Najera, Desmond Mason and James Jones for the opportunity to sign a crappy free agent like the Spurs got with Ron Mercer.
i wanted eddie traded at the deadline, but you guys arent evaluating him very well. he is a glue guy. he is blue collar but he is pretty skilled too. you dont see ruben or maddog draining 3s

This is pretty much what I said. The reason I meant he is not worth a roster spot is because of the 2009 plan that may or may not pan out. If it was a trade or S&T that didn't reduce our cap flexibility and helped to even out the roster then I think it could be a good fit.
