Anyone Else Getting Stoked On...

How well Al Horford is playing? I mean, I could care less about him, but to see someone who was absolutely DOMINATED by Oden in the championship last year doing so well is a great sign for Greg. Horford is holding his own against KG and a lot of the better big men in the league, not to mention putting up a double double.

Everytime I see Horford doing well, I smile and think about last year's NCAA 'ship game, where Oden was just pushing Horford out of the way like a little kid, dunking on him- Oden looked like he was on another level from Al. It just makes me excited that someone who was so thoroughly owned by our boy Greg is one of the best big man in the playoffs.

It's making me salivate at what Greg can do once he gets the chance to go to work.

Nah mean?

Agreed. I can't wait to see how Oden does next year!

To play Devil's advocate for a moment though.........Tyrus Thomas and Glen Davis dominated LaMarcus Aldridge in the NCAA tourney as well.

Thats a good point. I also feel the same way seeing Amare Stoudamire do so well, being that they had similar knee surgeries.

True... but the double teamed him a lot and he didn't have any help.

But yes, I am VERY glad to see Horford playing so well (and get sonned by Oden in the champ game). I like the kid a lot.

Sometimes I think that we don't even realize how good our kid Oden is!!!

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of that.

Not only was he obusing Al, he was completely dominating all three of the Florida NBA-level big men..... and many times, a couple of them at the same time.

Let's hope it carries over to the NBA.

Honestly I fear I'm too old to get "stoked," but it does seem like as reasonable and meanful a way to measure as any other that's been talked about. Next year should be fun.

What about getting psyched? Are you too old to get psyched?

I'm totally psyched.

Yeah, "psyched" works better. Or maybe "pumped up" -- ("We're here to....")

That said, while I was partly just having fun with generational slang, it's also true that I'm not all that stoked, psyched, or pumped up about the next season yet. I am looking forward to it but somewhat cautiously. While the team is pretty much a lock to be better even just with Oden and that much more if/when Fernandez comes (not to mention whatever other tinkering Pritchard does, though trades don't always work out ideally), the West is still super tough. Beyond the other teams still likely to finish at the top of the conference (Hornets, Spurs, Lakers, Jazz, Rockets, and Suns and/or Mavs -- I'm ready to guess one of them slips some) there will still likely be pretty stiff competition not just from the usual suspects (Warriors and Nuggets) but also, presuming they regain some health, the Clippers might be back in the hunt. Heck, even the bottom feeders (Kings, T-Wolves, and Sonics) are likely to win more games next year than they did this year.

So yeah, I'm very curious to see what happens, but I'm also not as confident as some that this team will be in the playoffs next season. I suspect a lot will hinge on whatever trade(s) Pritchard manages -- this team will need improvement at PG. If they get it, heck then I might even be stoked.
