Re: I curse you John Nash
You know the Blazers have Roy, Aldridge and Oden right? This isn't the 60's. You're not going to have 5 all-stars at all five positions anymore.

Not to mention if we had drafted Paul, there is no way our team would have been in a position to get Oden.

Re: I curse you John Nash
Nash sucks, and i would love to have Paul more than any player in the NBA, but what's past is past. We have an awesome team now that will be battling NO for years to come. Better start learning to hate Paul (I don't think I can). At least we have Pritchard now, someone who wanted Paul at the time, and has made some great decisions since. I don't think we need to worry from here on.

We got lucky in the lottery. That's still no excuse for making such a blunder.

Re: I curse you John Nash
Nash displayed his draft acumen by taking Telfair instead of Al Jefferson. It was clear at that point that he's an idiot.

Re: I curse you John Nash
I know, but he was a accomplished, known commodity. This moron past on him for Telfair. I know people will say "we wouldn't have Roy and Aldridge" and on and on but we do not know that for a fact. All we are certain that we did have a chance to draft CP.
Having our present team and roster gives us hope and inspiration to be Blazers fans, my point is watching CP in a Hornets uni makes me said.
Not trading our expiring contracts, signing Z-bo and Miles etc. should I go on...

Re: I curse you John Nash
At least we aren't the Bucks, who got Bogut No. 1, and are still going nowhere. I'm pretty happy with where we are right now. I see the West in the next five years going between us, New Orleans, Utah and the Lakers. It's going to be crazy!

Exactly. Our luck in last year's lottery is reason enough to be very, very happy.

Re: I curse you John Nash
Who cares! I believe if we took Paul, we would have had a few more wins and not been able to get BRoy and LA. Our team right now is so set for the future! Who cares!

Re: I curse you John Nash
Nash had two horrible drafts, but I do wonder how drafting Jefferson or Paul would have affected our current team.
I think we probably would have had to deal Jefferson to the Celtics(instead of Telfair), to get Brandon Roy.
Would drafting Chris Paul have negated Oden? If you were to change the space/time continum in order to get Paul, that would most likely mean no Oden. I think we had about a 7% chance to get Oden in 2007, and with Paul, those chances probably would have been 1% or less.
So maybe if John Nash had not been our GM our lineup would have been.
PG- Chris Paul
SG- Brandon Roy
C- Joel Pryzbilla
SF- Travis Outlaw
PF- Al Jefferson
instead of:
PG- Brandon Roy
SG- Rudy Fernandez
C- Greg Oden
PF- LaMarcus Aldridge
SF- Martell Webster
Both lineups look pretty good!

These kinds of threads are why I'm against time travel ... just imagine for a second the kind of havoc RW#30 would cause with such a device.

I agree with this sentiment. Without Nash, there would very likely be no Oden in Portland. So I say to John Nash, thank you.

Oden was luck, plain and simple.
