Eric Gordon losing stock?
nbadraft.net has him down to 12, and Westbrook going to us at 13.
If Gordon fell to 13 (and we got the 13) who would we pick? Gordon or Westbrook?
I would take Westbrook.

I'd lean towards Gordon if he fell.

He's a bad shooter, not much of a passer, he turns it over too much and he's an undersized volume scorer.
I'm not sure why people were originally so high on him.

are you talking about Gordon? Gordon is a great shooter and scorer. His range and consistency (minus the Dakich games) were astounding. He was the best player in the big 10 this season. He also is a very good athlete and plays great defense.

Re: Eric Gordon losing stock?
Gordon, and its not even close.
We need another guy who can create offense for himself and move effectivley without the ball. Eric can do both. He is an outstanding mid-ranged shooter, and gets to the line more than any of the hyped Freshman guards. Defensivley, people just rag on him because they figure combo-guards are inherently bad at D. Not Eric. Although he isnt as good as Westbrook, I would rank him above Bayless.
He is a far better all around talent than Russell.

43% from the floor. 33% from 3 pt range. That's a 'great shooter' in your mind? Whatever you say dude... His shot selection is awful and shows no signs of improving. In fact, he got worse as the season progressed.
Best player in the Big 10? Probably. Then again, so what? Who else did the big ten have this season?
Gordon can score plenty, but there are a lot of guys out there who can score by shooting a bad percentage. He's shown little ability to do anything else.
That's why his stock has fallen.

He gets to the line his mid-range game is also exceptional. Your the only person I have seen who wouldn't call Gordon a great shooter, much less a bad shooter. His %'s fell greatly once Sampson left.

Re: Eric Gordon losing stock?
I conceed that he needs to hone in his 3 pointer, but all other aspects of his shooting were amazing.
A Gordon/Roy/Rudy rotation at the guard positions would be deadly.

I'm not neccesarily saying he's a fundamentally unsound shooter. In fact, his shot is pretty. But it's his shot selection makes him terrible.
If you look at draftexpress.com right now, he's got the 2nd lowest FG% of anybody projected in the 1st round. I don't see how anybody can argue that he's a 'great' shooter.

Re: Eric Gordon losing stock?
I can't choose right now.
If i HAD to choose without seeing any work outs and stuff like that, i'd probably pick Westbrook as he looks like a better fit for us right now.
I'd like to see if Gordon can play point, and also about his defense. He seems quick and athletic enough to be good. I did see him play SOME point at Indiana. I wonder if he could play like 20 minutes of point a game (if he eventually became a starter).

because after being great for the most part of the season, he fell apart towards the end. this happened at the time kelvin sampson was fired so that may have had something to do with it or he just wore down as the season went on. but after sampson was fired he shot 15.5% from 3 over 7 games and his team went 3-4. he's kinda been falling ever since then.
if portland has faith in rudy coming over and being able to make an instant impact, there really is no reason for them to draft gordon. gordon is purely a shooting guard and there wouldn't be minutes to go around with him and rudy both there to backup roy.
