Re: OT: Dwight Howard
Question: Who is taller, Dwight Howard or Hedo Turkoglu? Does anyone have pictures of them side by side? I have a wager running on this question.
Thanks

Re: OT: Dwight Howard
Dwight is barely 6'10" in shoes. He said himself that Hedo is taller than him during an interview last year on TNT.
He's 6'11" the same way Ben Wallace is 6'9".

Damn, son. That's what I was thinking too. But no one here's going to believe that without any real proof (interview isn't on YouTube, is it?). Their heights listed on the internet don't help my case out either. Rats. Help me win moneeeyyyyy.

Re: OT: Dwight Howard
Howard is a freaking beast who has been improving leaps and bounds of late. His footwork certainly needs some work, and his shot outside of 6 feet needs help, but he is still very young. I do think that Oden will be better in his first year than Howard in his first year because Oden has a more developed game than Howard had coming out, but I don't think there is much of a chance Oden will be as good as Howard this year. Hopefully, Oden will also be able to improve as fast as DH did. They are both monsters and athletic freaks, but Oden has had MF surgery with may also limit his ability right off the bat.
But, I do think that Oden has quite a few post moves that will really help him as he waits to fully recover and rely on his body. I tried to find the article but could not, but I remember Oden also saying that while he has been out he has been practicing his shooting and has a good stoke all the way out to 3pt land. I don't think he will have many chances to use a 3pt shot, at least I hope not cause I want a beast on the inside like Howard, but it does bode well for us to know that our C should be able to not only dunk on anyone, but also shoot from the top of the key at least. I also remember that he has set a goal of shooting 78% from the FT line in his first season. Pretty damn good for a bruiser center.
But no matter how good Oden is or will be, it really does not change the fact that Howard is a young and very talented big who is learning at a high rate.

Re: OT: Dwight Howard
of course oden will look better in the west playing against that pathetic of a young promising center andrew bynum
jokes aside, WHY does dwight howard need finesse type moves? have you looked at his shoulders lately? he will overpower ANYBODY in the league and get a basket. and not only that, he is extremely good at getting position very deep inside and with him surrounded by 3 point shooters all they have to do is throw the ball in his general area and he's got either a monster dunk, a half hook, or a foul.

Re: OT: Dwight Howard
Howard does more than just dunk.

He's taller than Hedo, despite for whatever reason he stated that he wasn't. Compare him to Rasheed Wallace, who's a legit 6'11+, and he looks nearly as tall. Theo Ratliff, who's listed at 6'10, looks a good two inches shorter.
Howard grew some after high school and is probably near or at 6'11 in shoes now.

sort of splitting hairs, but I recently read a quote from the Blazer shooting coach saying that their goal for Greg was to be the best FT shooting center in the league next season (beating out Yao), and figured he'd have to shoot 83% to do that.

it's very rare for guys to continue to grow after HS, so I find it funny how often fans of a player speculate that their guy grew like you're doing here. What we do know is Howard measured 6'9 barefoot at his pre-draft, Wallace 6'9.75 at his and to my eye last night, Howard looks shorter then Wallace and Hedo.

It's not that rare. David Robinson, for one, grew several inches after high school. I was 6'2 as a senior in high school and sprouted up to 6'6 by my sophomore year of college. It was reported by several sites that he grew some after the draft, and I believe it. He looks every bit of 6'10, and potentially even taller. He's definitely taller than Hedo, and I can say this because I follow Orlando and see plenty of their games.
Regardless, with his near 7'5 wingspan and huge standing reach, he plays taller than he is.

you can say that because it's your opinion. Believe me I've seen plenty of Orlando's games too, yet I happen to believe otherwise. But according to your own words, Sheed looks taller then him. He measured all of 3/4" taller at his pre-draft then DH did at his... what do you think the chances are that Sheed was the even rarer exception to the rule and grew after his pre-draft measurement when he was 21?

no one will dispute that or that he is a stud. Heres looking forward to him standing next to and playing against 6'11 GO next season.
