OT: Dwight Howard
Big Dwight has to be the most unskilled 20 ppg scorer I have ever seen. If he's not dunking the ball he's almost useless on the block. When he's on an ISO on the block his 'back to the basket game' reminds me a lot of Dale Davis.
But he can do a lot of other things very well, I guess that more than makes up for his Dale Davis-esque post game

Re: OT: Dwight Howard
Yea but even Dale could score from the left block about 10 feet out. The whole key to Howard, is the same key as to Shaq. Keep him more than 6 feet from the hoop. Charles Barkley was yappin yesterday and said the key to guarding him is to have somebody with a solid base. Size doesn't matter, the key is keeping him from pushing you to the hoop.

Re: OT: Dwight Howard
That's true. Dale also had a turnaround jumper. Dwight has chucked up two air hooks tonight. When DH has to rely on his skill rather than overpowering his opponents he's in trouble. No post game what-so-ever.

Re: OT: Dwight Howard
Whenever I watch Howard, I wonder if it is a preview of what's Greg going to be like. I think that Oden probably has a few more post moves and perhaps a better shot, but I can't be certain until Oden actually plays an NBA game.

Re: OT: Dwight Howard
Oden is far more skilled in the post than Dwight. It's not even close. Greg has a lot of moves on the block, a developing turnaround and can hit the short mid-range jumper. Greg also has a nasty drop step. in the title game Greg showcased his low post game against the Florida frontcourt. He overpowered Noah and Horford, but he also showed a ton of natural skill.

Re: OT: Dwight Howard
The reason for my vague post above is that, coming out of high school I would go as far as to say that Dwight Howard has/has a better skill set than Greg Oden. I know how you guys worship Oden; who hasnt stepped a foot on an NBA court yet, and already so many say what he is and what he isnt and he hasnt proved anything yet. As far as Dwight Howard is concerned, the season before last when he started to drift to the perimeter and take his man off of the dribble; Orlando pissed a fit because they did not want him to become KGesque. They wanted him to play in the post where he has excelled. Players are allowed to have bad games, but do they have to be at the expense of another player?

Thanks, I appreciate your input. It's always nice to hear another perspective, especially since a lot of it is speculation. Nobody knows for sure what Oden is capable of in the NBA. I can't wait to find out this coming October/November.

Howard scored numerous times in the post tonight. What game were you watching? He threw up one bad shot all night, and that was with three Pistons players draped on him and he threw up a wild hook. Asides from that, he was fantastic.

Re: OT: Dwight Howard
Greg Oden has a long way to go before he becomes as skilled as Dwight Howard down in the low post. Dwight improved quite a bit in the 3 years that he has been in the league and I suspect that it will take Oden about the same time to learn the moves and pass skills required to be a dominant center. If you watch Howard last year and this year, he has improved by quite a large margin. His touch around the basket is much improved and can score via the hook or bank shot instead of simply dunking. He is also a lot better this year at passing out of double teams.

C'mon man! I love Dwight. He is a beast in the post, but has no real low post moves other then to over power the defender. There is nothing wrong with that, but imagine how much more damage he could do if he had a couple Hakeem moves in his arsenal! From watching Greg in college, and summer league, he seems to have a couple back to the basket moves. If he can put up the #'s Dwight does, I'll be happy!
