Rod Thorn wanted Jack before Dallas was in the trade picture and they wanted Jack once Dallas became involved. Nothing has changed since then.

And you know this because you follow the Nets right?
He had his career high in assists as a NETS player. Matter of fact if you go his player page on NBA.com, most of his career highs have come in a Nets uniform. Are you still going to say nothing changed?
The fact of the matter is there are very few good young point guards in the league. It doesnt make any sense for the Nets to trade away one of the very few good ones. Jack is not as good as Harris, thats a given.
Everything that has come out from Nets after the Harris trade has shown that they are thrilled with him. He isnt going anywhere
Just a recent article on him

Except Kiki is the GM now...
And Harris is much more valuable than Jack, the trade talks were Jack+pieces and filler for Kidd, so the Nets would get younger with more pieces and not have to deal with Kidd's constant complaining/declining game. You know what? They did that, in spades, with the trade from Dallas where they got Harris/Diop, expirings, and picks. There was speculation that KP was trying to get in on that and offer Jack+pieces to take Harris and maybe a bad contract back, but obviously that didn't happen, Thorn got a much better young PG and didn't need to get Jack.
He's one of their top 3 players if not their best long term player to build around, there's no way you trade that for a couple of mediocre bench players and a late lottery pick. There may have been a chance when the initial Kidd trade went down to sneak in there as a third party, but now in a 2 team swap there just isn't any way to get Harris with what we would be willing to offer.

Re: So, Kiki's The Nets New GM
I'm so tired of this debate. Blazer fans thinking we can steal Harris and Nets fans getting all defensive and saying there's no chance in hell. Can we stop?

Re: So, Kiki's The Nets New GM
I dont know why some of you guys want RJ....He is a talented player for sure. but after watching every one of his games the last 3 years, he is not a good defender (even vince played better D than him this year), he is not a good teammate in the sense that once he gets the ball, its like a black hole and he just wont pass it very often, and he doesnt run as good as he used to..back in the 2003 days when he would run and dunk every play. maybe that will change when harris gets a training camp under his belt, but as of now, RJ has really disappointed me and I advise you to stay clear...
as for harris, i am pretty sure he is untouchable. thorn really is infatuated with him. he wont be a CP3 or DWill, but he is really fast, pretty good offensively, and his reputation is that he is a good defensively (I did not see it last year with the nets). So dont get your hopes up on him.
you all know me, the vc fan. i think vince would be awesome on portland with a coupe more vets, but i know im in the minority on that one

I hear you. And I know you have to give to get. As I said, the Nets might well not be interested. By "a fair bit" what I meant was that there were a lot of pieces, not necessarily that they'd like those piece.
I brought it up only because trades pretty regularly happen for reasons that mystify most fans. The Gasol trade is an extreme example but lots of deals happen more for financial reasons than talent reasons. I don't have any idea what the situation is in New Jersey -- I'm guessing they're all kinds of ready to build around Harris. However, Kiki might want to blow everything up (as he did in Denver) in which case....
Also, the players I suggested sending might become "deep bench players" on this team as soon as next season, but I think both Frye and Outlaw were main rotation guys this season and would start on something like half the teams in the league. If they've got financial troubles taking on LaFrentz, getting cash outright, Frye and Outlaw (both good, young, and relatively inexpensive players), and picks might interest them. Beyond that, Kiki's track record for brilliant moves can't touch KP's.
Regardless, I'm clear it wouldn't be a fair trade, talentwise.
