Yes I do, because Miles wouldn't be playing and the teams trio would still be in tact. If Melo were here it would mean at least one of the teams trio would he gone (as well as future picks and current role players) and whoever was left of the trio would never see the ball because Carmelo would be too busy doing his Zebo impersonation.

This is plain silliness, KP wouldn't even think about a Melo trade for even a ahalf a second.

Who once in this thread said that we would trade any of the big 3 to get Mello? It clearly says in the thread that it would have to be some sort of Pau\Kwame type deal. Raef and some filler for Mello. Not trade a big 3 guy.

You should pay closer attention when you make your posts. We would never trade a big 3 for Mello dude. What the hell is wrong with you?

Doesn't mean KP couldn't insert himself as the 3rd team, if Denver and their trading partner have problems matching up.
I could see in the past, Allen showing some interest and Nash or Patterson caving to Allen and getting a trade done.

I agree, I can see KP saying with confidence to Allen that Mello isn't the right fit (if that's how he feels) and Allen backing off . . . I think that is the big difference with KP v. the past GMs.

I think Mello would be a great fit to play along with Bosh . . . I wonder if the Blazers could get involved and if tehre is anyone from Toronto that KP likes?

or am i totally wrong?
In Miami he was a decent defender. In Washington, they don't play much defense, so it makes it real hard to guage his desire/ability.

As for his 3pt shot, he just developed it this season and it is not proven or accurate enough yet to do the job.

I guess your point is he has all-around abilities/potential, and if he came in with the right attitude (do whatever it takes to win), got back to his defensive intensity, kept working on his 3 pt shot, and continued with his excellent scoring ability, he could be an incredible addition to the team. I agree.

I just don't think he is available.

it is kinda embarrasing (i'm a moron at spelling) i have not been able to watch more than 20 games during regular season, but i have watched all the playoff games against cavs, and i think by far butler is the best man-to-man defender, of course he ain't gonna stop lebron or kobe (who is?) but he can contain them long enough for the double-team to arrive, and that is indeed good, his 3 point shooting is a bit too streaky, but i think some off-season work on it would make it decent enough for defenders not to back to much off him nor leave him open..

Re: Feeling Mello?

I'm sure there is 0% chance of the Blazers being interested in Melo. They are still too skittish about the personality/character nonsense.

As far as his weak defense is concerned - I consider that issue overblown. Would you turn down a young Steve Nash because he is better on the offensive end than the defensive? What about Parker, Dirk, Gasol, or Amare?

IMHO, the only real issue with Melo is his horrible shot selection. He needs more discipline/maturity in his game. Even at that, he would be worth the risk if it was a true fire sale, and we could get him for Raef's contract and some spare parts.

Re: Feeling Mello?

Sweet, just what this team needs is a shoot first, won't pass, won't defend player with legal problems.

Haven't we all seen what happens when teams try to overload with "star" level talent? It didn't get the Whitsitt Blazers anywhere, and it didn't get the Nuggets anywhere either.

Re: Feeling Mello?

The only assets I would be willing to give up for Melo would be...
#13, #35, #33
Rudy Fernandez
Raef LaFrentz
Sergio Rodriguez
James Jones/Martell Webster

Its the whole buy low sell high thought process. I am not a fan of Melo, but maybe our culture could turn him around.
Jack-Roy-Melo-LA-Oden=2nd place for everyone else for the foreseeable future, and its not even close.

I wouldn't give up Rudy.

Not because I think Rudy will be a superstar, but because Melo is a bum.

Re: Feeling Mello?

With the roster set as it is right now, we don't need a high volume shooter.

If the guy is a bum, you don't want him PERIOD! Not at any price. All of the posters who like the idea of adding Mello say, "MAYBE that leopard would change his spots in Portland." How big of a "MAYBE" is that? How often do you see that kind of transformation in a player? How often does a rotten apple spoil the barrel? What is that gamble worth? NADA, when you've got the potential of the Blazers.

Please do not make me defend Melo, but the guy is an All-Star and if you can get him for spare parts, you prolly do it. If he doesn't work out, then deal him. He is young and still has value.
