Re: Sergio Interview: Sounds mad at Nate to me...
Nate didn't like Radmanovic's style. Rad refused to stop taking outside shots, so Nate designed him into the offense to do just (and only) that. I used to joke that he played a whole game without setting foot inside the 3-point line.
Why doesn't the original post have a link? The whole thread is on the honor system, trusting that the quotes are real. Giving a link should have been automatic.

And Phil Jackson called Vlad a "space cadet".
PJ has given Vlad 23mpg and 18 mpg the past two seasons.
Vlad's last season in Seattle coached by the 2 Bobs, Vlad got 23mpg
Nate (the accused Vlad hater specifically and Euro hater in general) gave Vlad "Space Cadet" Rad; 30mpg, 30mpg & 27mpg
http://www.basketball-reference.com/...radmavl01.html
Does that make PJ - a hall of fame coach - ignorant about players?
To my eyes Vlad looks the same damn no defense streak shooting gunner he has always been. When he is hot you think he is the next Peja. When he's is not, you hate him.
If Nate was such a "hater" why did he give Vlad more burn than any of 4 coaches he ever had? This is unsubstantiated mythology about Nate and Euros.
Name a Euro player that blew up after they escaped Nate's prison.
Wait til Rudy comes over. If Rudy is any good - Nate will play him. You watch.

Re: Sergio Interview: Sounds mad at Nate to me...
Maybe if Sergio could shoot and play defense he'd get minutes. As I've said before, if you make Jack look like an awesome shooter, and a really good defender, thats saying a lot about you, Serigo.

Re: Sergio Interview: Sounds mad at Nate to me...
I've rarely seen so much "blood" and "ink" spilled over a 3rd string, 2nd year point guard, who can't shoot and seems incapable of playing defense.
Yes I know he showed flashes of brilliance early in his first year (how quickly we forget that he tailed off toward the end after people built a scouting report on him) and yes I know he's 'bestest' buddies with Rudy Fernandez, but if Sergio not getting burn and being a little pouty about it is enough to keep Rudy from coming over to the NBA to seize his dream then I'd think Rudy has his priorities screwed up.
I don't hate Sergio, I just think he needs to completely break down and rebuild his shot from the ground up and he needs to get stronger ... and compared to Jack he was inferior by most reasonable metrics
Jesus, would we even be having this conversation if Rudy and Sergio had been teammates at LSU (as an example) and weren't coming from Europe? I somehow doubt it.

Ah denial...not just a river in the middle east!
If Sergio's scoring ability was even close to his play-making, I wouldn't give a hoot about his defense. As is, he is a one trick pony who shows no interest in getting better.
Sergio, your worst enemy isn't Nate - it is the guy staring at you in the mirror!

This thread is a good example of what is wrong with internet websites. Lets take a quote from a translated interview and take it for gospel.

This thread is worthless. It sounds like he is frustrated with his lack of P.T. Who wouldn't be?

Re: Sergio Interview: Sounds mad at Nate to me...
this is all bull and you all know it. Why did Sergio look good last year? Where has his play-making abilities gone? Can he just not shoot? He is not a good shooter, straight up, but he's not so horrendous either, who looks good in a few scattered looks? Nate has tried to turn him into a catch and shoot SG by the situations he's put him in, and it's garbage. Sergio last year got burn playing with Aldridge (who would run the floor, pass, and could finish), Pryzbilla (who could set picks and give outlet passes), Fred Jones (who moved without the ball and cut well even though he wasn't a good shooter), and Martell (who was a shooting threat). He also had time to get into a rhythm. This year he played with selfish Jack and Outlaw who think they're isolation stars (though Outlaw sometimes is), don't move without the ball, and aren't really shooting threats. Pryzbilla was still a decent pick setter, but there was no inside scoring threat Sergio ever got to play with to actually feed the ball down low (Frye, Outlaw, Pryz) in a half court set, and no guards who moved without the ball. What the hell is a distributor supposed to do with that setup and a short leash. No shooters, no inside scoreres, and no cutters, and a teammate who thinks he should be the PG and you can't pass to without him directing the offense. He didn't have a chance.

As with the absurd under-use of Joel's PT, Nate's racism is the obvious problem here, and it's getting to be pretty tiring.
As for Rudy, he'll be a nice compliment to Sergio as he was in Spain, but talented SG's like Rudy are a dime a dozen while talented PG's like Sergio are much rarer.

Re: Sergio Interview: Sounds mad at Nate to me...
I really hope that we do get to see them play off of one another and get some time together, but I'm very skeptical that Nate will give either of them a real shot. I think Rudy will test Nate's patience just as much as Sergio does. I sure wish they would both be here to train with the team and develop chemistry before Nate gets in the way. The only way they get a shot is really if KP forces Nate's hand, and I think he has to do that by trading Jack for starters. Do you think we could see a mini-rivalry/tension develop between KP and Nate soon? How long until KP gets to choose 'his' coach for the team. Will it be clean after Nate's contract is up, or will it be after next season?

Re: Sergio Interview: Sounds mad at Nate to me...
Maris61, I think your comments are possibly along the right lines, but probably not. It is more complex than that. People on this board tend to forget that one very important aspect of Nate's current job is to develop the key players. LA is a key player and Channing is potentially an important role player. I believe that Joel got less time than he "really deserved" because Nate was giving LA and Channing more time to play, so that they would face up to their current limitations and work on them. Joel is not going to develop much beyond what he is now. They others have more "potential" to develop. Also, Nate is of the "learn to be tough" school, and he wants all his players to get it into their heads that they need to push themselves to be better--- all the time.
For Sergio, I think something else is at play. I don't know what it is, but if it were racism, I believe Blake would have gotten less time and Taurean Green would have played more. I suspect that as people have pointed out, Nate seems to really like Jack. I think that for at least this last season, Nate saw a real need to highlight the "competitive spirit" that Jack displays more clearly than anyone else.
Are there differences between Nate and KP? I'm sure there are some. But until the "complete core" group has played together for at least a year, I don't think there will be any big disputes. Everyone is trying to do their best to prepare for this, which should be about 3 years from now.
