Beno Udrih
I think Portland should strongly consider going after Beno Udrih. I live in San Antonio, and I watched him with the Spurs. Three years ago, I thought he was going to really push Tony Parker and get a lot of playing time. I don't know exactly why he fell into Pop's doghouse, but he did. Then at the beginning of last season, he was injured and didn't demonstrate enough "toughness" for Pop. He is a superior passer. Moreover, he has won 2 rings in San Antonio. I think that could really help Portland. I think he is definitely starting PG quality, and he would be a nice fit with the Blazers - and probably at a pretty reasonable price. He could really blossom on the right team.

Re: Beno Udrih
I agree I thought he played very well for the kings but I just wonder if they will let him go?

Kings fans talk about him as if he would be off limits. I really don't know what the real situation is, but if he could be had I would be thrilled. I know that the Kings don't have another PG that they can rely on, so my guess is that he is there to stay. Unless somehow they lucked into Rose or Bayless.

Re: Beno Udrih
Udrih is an unrestricted free agent. He has been very coy about returning to the Kings.

Well in that case, I say we offer our MLE. Would that be enough?

Re: Beno Udrih
Unfortunately I am not Udrih's agent. LOL. I'd much rather have my client be the PG of Portland than Sacramento!

Re: Beno Udrih
I also am a Beno fan. He isnt a great defensive player, but he is a very good 3 point shooter and can suprisingly slash well. Easily the best FA point guard. The thing is, if we sign him to the MLE we will certainly have to make a consolidation trade for a SF because our roster is already way too stacked. Still, he is a very nice player, and IMO would not fuss about being a 4th or 5th offensive option. Not to mention he has some SG skills and could mesh with Roy well.

I think he might flourish as the PG, elder statesman (at 26?), leader (with championship rings) of a young team, running the offense and scoring when needed. He is not a great defender by any means. I thought his 3-pointer was better his first 2 years, but I haven't really seen him with the Kings. He was a lot more frail-looking when he first came to the Spurs. I hope he has gained strength and not just bulk. He is much quicker than most people realize. I just think he'd be a great fit with the Blazers. The Blazers might really benefit from a guy who won 2 rings with a Spurs team known for its defense, toughness, teamwork and attention to detail.
