OT: Anyone else an ex-Laker fan?
I know it is blasphemous in these parts, but I don't think I am alone. I grew up in L.A. - loved the Jerry and Wilt team, and the Magic and Kareem team, but I can't stand this version of the Lakers.
What oh what will I do if its the Lakers and Boston in the Finals??
Go Blazers!

You either root for the Celtics to win, or you just root for the Lakers to lose.

wow. I thought laker fandom was 100% terminal? I had no idea anybody could be cured of this affliction as I thought all so cursed were doomed to suffer until the end of their days.
Good on you Stevenson for finding whatever miracle cure you did.

Once a Laker, Always a Laker.
You're still a fan, you just don't know it.

Naw. I was a Laker fan when I lived there. Then many years ago I moved here and quickly hated them, maybe because national TV shows their games too much.

What!!! That's utterly RIDICULOUS. If he were a fan of being accepted and convenience he's simply root for the team when they're good. He probably experiences the same visceral disgust at the sight of the two whiniest players in the league (Kobe and Gasol) crying all game that the rest of us do.
The Gasol trade transformed this Laker team into one that is truly hateable not only because of the incessant whining but because Laker fans somehow never grasp how fortunate they have been. They always act like victims. They complain about injuries as if they are some unfair act that no other team has to go through (Houston whines a fraction as much). They whine that everyone hates on them without stopping to look in the mirror.
I completely understand how someone could grow cold to the Lakers just by watching them play, listening to their fans, and seeing the social circus that is the lower bowl at the Staples center.
Stevenson, you're welcome here anytime. The Trailblazers are a truly likable team and we could care less if you were a Laker fan as long as you hate them now.

Re: OT: Anyone else an ex-Laker fan?
I'm a laker fan for the simple fact that the origin of the lakers is from Minnesota where I have lived for most of my life. But the simple fact that they haven't felt what its REALLY like to have a rebuilding stage makes them very lucky.
