hmm...it has been 14 years since a team outside of the top 10 won the #1 pick.....
Could this be the year where one of those teams jump up?

Not likely. After Orlando won the second year in a row they changed the lottery seeding to make it far less likely to make a big jump. 7th worst record is the biggest jump since the new rules.

Re: Lottery? We Don't Need To Win No Stinkin' Lottery
I'd actually feel guilty if Portland won the lottery this year. Last year's fluke win was incredible, but this year it would just be unfair if it happened again. Let another team get lucky this year. We already have Greg Oden!!

Since none of us have any control over the ping pong balls, why on earth would you feel guilty? Since I've never met a Laker fan that felt the least bit of guilt about things like Gasol dropping to them for nothing, or a Celtics fan who saw anything but entitlement in Garnet and Allen being traded to them for much lesser talent, I refuse to feel any guilt when good things go the Blazers way.

E, I'm using your comment about Gasol to address an issue I dealt with this weekend.
I've heard a lot about Memphis giving away Gasol. But Gasol has been on the market since he started to complain last year. I remeber on this board when Gasol's name came up the general consensus was Gasol was soft, played no defense and was overpaid . . . many posters didn't want him on the team period. Gasol was on the trading block last season and all summer . . . it was the Lakers who stepped up and took a chance on Gasol.
Also, part of the trade was for the rights to Marc Gasol . . . the MVP of the Spanish league (with Rudy in the same league). I wonder if the Blazer traded the right to Rudy, Sergio Garcia, Raef and 2 first round draft picks for an overpaid, soft big man if the thought would be the Blazers gave up nothing to get Gasol.
OK . . . I'm done. : )

I wonder if that was the 1st time a player was traded for a family member?

14. Portland Trail Blazers (0.6 percent chance of winning the lottery).
By far, this is the lottery team that is most set for the future. In Brandon Roy, Greg Oden, and LaMarcus Aldridge, the Blazers already have a nucleus that will be in place for years to come, complete with two potential franchise players.
Roy is already a star, and if Oden recovers from knee surgery there’s no reason to believe he won’t be too. Sure, adding a true point guard such as Rose would be a boon for the franchise, but it is by no means a do-or-die proposition. The Blazers won their lottery last year; landing Rose would just be icing on the cake.

I want icing on the cake!

This may be our last lottery for a long time. So we need to win this. Rose to the Rose City, please.

We don't need to win the No.1... I'd be perfectly happy with this scenario

Re: Lottery? We Don't Need To Win No Stinkin' Lottery
Well, we have approximately a 1 in 166 shot at winning the #1 pick and a 1 in 111 chance of being top 3. Obviously we have the #2 pick locked down.
