Re: I hate Mayo
I find it very odd that KP would state he is not interested in a potential draft pick....
That just seems to be out of character for him...particularly for him, since he plays things at draft time very close to the vest...

Re: I hate Mayo
People are going waaaayyyyy overboard regarding Mayo's character. Lets remember LeBron got an insane amount of gifts(Including a Hummer, IIRC) when he was still in HS. No one ever really *****ed about his character.
We should all hope Mayo has enough question marks to have his draft stock drop a bit, so we wouldnt have to trade up as far to steal him.

Re: I hate Mayo
Are you talking about Zack Mayo, from "An Officer and a Gentleman"? The guy who played for Navy?

They are talking about the founder of the Mayo Clinic.

Re: I hate Mayo
HE DIDNT SAY HE IS NOT INTERESTED. He said Mayo might not fit with the team (he didn't want to say yes or no). That is what he said.
To me, it sounded like a no way.

To get the #3-5 pick it would take to get OJ into Red and Black, KP is going to have to move a lot of big chips and of course find someone who's interested... thats always been very unlikely.

I read your post and the response. In context, the response makes perfect sense to me. If you look at a single sentence from each, it makes a lot less sense, but it does still make sense.
YOU: It's unlikely that we aquire Mayo.
TORTIMER: People still believe what they want to believe.

Because there seems to be a lot of people wanting Mayo. KP has said at least a couple times especially last night that he doesn't think Mayo fits our team. I was even starting to come around a little to trading up for Mayo. People can have their opinion but I just don't think it is very realistic to think we are trading up for Mayo now. Maybe I'm wrong and it's all a smokes screen by KP but I really doubt it though. I just don't think KP would say that about Mayo if he really wanted to draft him. What is KP going to say to Mayo after we draft him? ...it was just a smoke screen!

did he indeed say "Mayo doesn't fit our team"? Thats quite different then... "Having a hard time seeing Mayo in a Blazer uniform" Because I didn't hear the interview I asked that specific question earlier in this thread. It seemed thats what people were reading into matters but not what he said. If he (not Wheels or some caller) actually plainly stated that he doesn't fit then I'd believe that... but it seems you're taking what you thought was implying much further.
"Having a hard time seeing Mayo in a Blazer uniform" is being truthful about the situation even if he wanted it to happen. I don't take that as it won't happen, but likely the cost of acquiring him is too high. I'd take "Mayo doesn't fit our team" to mean no thanks.
Anyway, I still have my #1 move up option out there (Randolph). Is that realistic?

He said and ALL he said directly about Mayo, after saying he wouldn't comment on it, was (paraphrase), "I am not sure he is the best fit with our guys."
