I hate Mayo
But ketchup and mustard are alright ...
Anyone else get the impression from KP on Wheels After Work that there's about a snowball's chance in hell of us trying to move up and get the guy? (not that it was ever all that realistic to begin with).

Re: I hate Mayo
It's seemed pretty unlikely to me for awhile. Now I'd say the final nail's in.

I was off playing pickup hoops in the first time in forever (I've had a foot injury) so I didn't hear whatever was said. What did KP (not Wheels) say?

I can't remember if it was a caller's question or Wheels but the jist was what did KP think of Mayo (must have been a caller? ...) and was he somebody that he might be interested in moving up to get.
KP had been talking about evaluating prospects and asking himself if he can see them in a blazer uniform, etc. etc. and then when asked this pointed question, KP at first hemmed and hawed a bit saying that he wouldn't want to tip his hand to other GMs about who he might be targetting, but right after that he went ahead and said that he hard a hard time seeing Mayo in a Blazer uniform (paraphrasing of course).
The fact that he would go that far in an interview when he's so tight lipped about everybody else in the draft was pretty telling to me.

Can't remember exactly what KP said but something like Mayo doesn't fit into our team. It could be a smoke screen but I really doubt that it was. I just think KP isn't interested in Mayo and that is ok with me.

Re: I hate Mayo
He also mentioned how different things are this time a year then they used to be. He mentioned that as soon as this interview is over it will be on somebody's blog or website right away. He got you all convinced that there is no way he is going after OJ. So maybe the game begins. Maybe somebody forwarded this interview to a fellow NBA GM and he now thinks the same thing. Reverse psychology baby!

I prefer buffalo sauce. Lot's of it. Mustard's pretty good, too.

sounds like he really didn't say much to me and people are reading into it what they want to hear. To get the #3-5 pick it would take to get OJ into Red and Black, KP is going to have to move a lot of big chips and of course find someone who's interested... thats always been very unlikely. No sense in tipping one's hand and driving up the price if that indeed is something he'd be interested in doing.
btw... I hate all condiments, especially mustard and mayo.

Re: I hate Mayo
There are some questions about Mayo. However, I think people are going overboard with the characterization. He has never been in trouble with the law. But since Pritchard is making the decisions, I guess we can cross out Mayo as a future Blazer.

If you listen to what KP was saying close IMO you could tell he didn't think he would fit in with this team. There is no way we are going after Mayo now. I have watched many of Mayo's games and really wasn't that impressed. I was starting to change my mind of the Blazers going for Mayo a little because of the talk of him possibly playing PG and really was played out of position in college. I know the people that want Mayo will never believe we are not going to trade up and get Mayo until the draft is over and we have Westbrook, Gordon, even Love or trade for a veteran and not Mayo.

Gordon is a shorter, less defensive minded version of Mayo. I don't think Pritchard is going after him. Right now, it will be either Westbrook, Augustin, or Bayless. He might just trade down and get Lawson.
