AEG owns a stake in the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where it is developing a $2.5 billion sports, residential and entertainment district. Trail Blazers executives have cited the district as a model it wants to use to redevelop the 32-acre Rose Quarter, which includes the 20,000-seat Rose Garden and 12,000-seat Memorial Coliseum.

Damn, see. This is what I am talking about! A sports and entertainment district is what was wanted and is need at the Rose Quarter. Make it happen!

Re: Rose Garden: Global Spectrum Replaced
Yay, another move to homogenize Portland into Los Angeles North, because hey, if the Staples Center works for LA, it'll be great for Portland! Just think about it... bandwaggoning rich fans (who are the only ones who can afford the outrageous ticket prices) who show up midway through the 2nd quarter, mug for any available camera, make hardly a peep because they haven't got a clue what's going on on the court, they are just there because ALL THE COOL KIDZ ARE DOING IT, and then get mad when the game runs long because it's cutting into their 10:00pm BMW waxing appointment. I figure it'll be about 2-3 more years until the entire upper bowl is ripped out for 3 more rows of luxury suites, and if you can't afford the 120 buck a pop and up lower bowl seats, then hey, I'm sure we can televise the game on the big grain elevators (along with about 30 minutes of advertising per minute of game broadcast) for the "lower class peasents" who continue to stupidly buy merchandise thinking that the Blazers are in any way "their" team anymore, when it's all just a bunch of billionaires employing a bunch of millionaires to suck every last dime out of suckers like you and me.
Wow... that was quite a rant. I'm not sure I actually believe most of what I just wrote, but you get my jist.

Re: Rose Garden: Global Spectrum Replaced
I am so happy, because to be honest, the food at the Rose Garden sucked gnards. I was happy when they added a Subway and a Teriyaki this booth this year just so there were some fairly healthy alternatives.
So providing this is an upgrade, I give it a thumbs up.
Can anybody speak about their experiences at other arenas with this company running the show?

I wasn't overly impressed with Staples Center or Qwest when I attended events there. Average I would say.
American Airlines in Dallas takes the cake im terms of arenas I have been in.

My experiences at the Rose Garden and Staples Center for NBA games are pretty similar. Had fun, no real complaints except for the prices of parking and food.
I can safely say that both arenas far exceed the Delta Center where I attended one game a few years ago. That place is like the Memorial Coliseum.

Re: Rose Garden: Global Spectrum Replaced
Qwest Field has HANDS DOWN better food than the RG. The have Ivars to Poppa Murphys Pizza and everything in between. They have really good food there and the stadium is run really nice. I have Season tickets to both the Seahawks and Blazers.

AEG Facilities will replace Global Spectrum
What sucks is AEG Failities is a LA base company.

The Portland Trail Blazers said today that AEG Facilities will replace Global Spectrum as venue manager for the Rose Garden and Memorial Coliseum arenas. As part of its charge, Los Angeles-based AEG will seek a title sponsor for the arena.

There was Subway and Teriyaki in the RG? I never saw that... hmm, all I know is their Pizza Hut pizza was the worst I've ever had in my life.
I thought GS did a good job bringing in events. Hopefully there won't be too much change with this..
