Bring back Antonio Daniels!

I'm serious. I think we have some good young PG talent (I hold out hopes for Koponen in particular) but we need a transition PG, who's a steady vet and can man the position while the team develops. (Perhaps until Roy and Fernandez are comfortable as the starting tandem.) Last year (after we got Oden and before he was injured) I was all in favor of bringing in someone like Sam Cassell or Eric Snow, or less realistically, Jason Kidd, with the same idea. Well, Cassell really is TOO old, Snow has actually retired, and Kidd's in Dallas (thankfully). Another one of the same age group is Lindsey Hunter, who can still play amazingly good D, and is, like Cassell and Snow, a GREAT lockerroom guy. But he probably won't leave Detroit at this point, and isn't starting material any more. So that got me to thinking about Daniels. He was the starter in DC after Arenas went down and they didn't miss a beat. Positives: great guy, tall PG (6'4"), still got hops (even though he was born in '75), plays very good defense and a solid veteran PG. Younger than Derek Fisher, for one. Having had success starting, he might not be so keen to go back to being Gilbert's backup.
Here's my suggestion: Steve Blake (and McRoberts as filler - I knew he'd come in useful) for Daniels.
Why we'd do it: I see Daniels as a better Lockerroom guy (Blake's too quiet) and he's older, so he can phase out when our young'uns are ready to take over without it being as awkward. Plus he's just bigger, stronger and a better defender.
Why the Wiz would do it: to avoid tension when Gilbert's ready for full-time (Arenas has already been a bit thin skinned about talk that the team was better without him), and Blake is younger, and a Maryland hero.
(Yes, I know, that didn't stop him getting dumped by the Wiz before, but I think he's proved himself a bit since then.)
Any comments? Just a reminder:

Re: Bring back Antonio Daniels!
I would love to have Antonio Daniels on this team. He is a tough veteran, who IMO, has got better as he has got older.

Re: Bring back Antonio Daniels!
Daniels is a better PG than Blake or Jack. Look at the numbers he put up when Gilbert has been out over the last few years shows that he can be very capable. Still not the best outside shooter, he has decent size and would be a good veteran. Not sure what his contract is but it's probably around the MLE. I'd go for it if we didn't have to give up too much.

Re: Bring back Antonio Daniels!
I'm a fan of Antonio Daniels. This rotation is going to be tight next year though. We'd have to jettison JAck or Sergio. I'd develop them....
And as for trading for Blake.....I think it would be a **** move by Pritch to resign him, promise a future, and then trade him again.
besides, I like Blake on the team. He's come through alot and is trying to be a part of the community (lives here the entire season, even after he got traded, etc).

Re: Bring back Antonio Daniels!
I think Antonio wouldn't be a bad addition for this team.

To the op:
Dude, look at his age: 33 yr old. We are going to make a title run when he is 36?

Dude! You're right! I mean, I know I posted that he was born in '75 and all, but I never actually did the math. Props! Being that old must be totally bogus.

Re: Bring back Antonio Daniels!
it'd still be bringing another lifetime backup PG into the mix. if we're going to get a PG, it better be for someone that will be the for sure starter, not someone who will have to fight for the spot.
with that said, Blake will not be moved, nor will Sergio.

Re: Bring back Antonio Daniels!
The point is why bring an old point guard if we are not ready for a title run yet? At most, it will be an expensive short term solution. Solution for what, I have no idea. We are building a championship caliber team here, not amassing the most wins possible for next year or two.

Re: Bring back Antonio Daniels!
i've said it before and i'll say it again, we dont need to move PG's. we need to remove jones, raef, Frye to get a solid vet at SF. have travis rotate w/LMA.

I don't want to sound rude, but try actually READING the thread.
Look: we have some young PGs who might pan out (I think even Jack could turn into a Derek Fisher type), OR we might be moving towards starting Roy and Rudy together. While neither will happen next year, it won't take more than a couple of years. Hence the need for a steady vet in the interim. As for "expensive short term solution" either:
(a) we already HAVE that and his name is Steve Blake (age 28, dude), or
(b) if Blake isn't expensive, then neither is Daniels, because they have very similar contracts. And (as noted in PREVIOUS POSTS) Daniels is a better fit.
By your reasoning, the Lakers were crazy to re-sign Fisher.
deanwoof: I agree that Sergio won't be moved, but tell me how you know Blake won't be. Pritchard has raved about Jack. McMillan likes Jack. Jack is one of our most personable players and probably the most fiery competitor. I think Blake gets moved before Jack does.
XericX: about it being ****ty to move Blake. True, but the same was true of Fred Jones, and that didn't stop Pritchard. Don't underestimate his ruthlessness.

So who's our "PG of the future"? Steve Blake?
