Re: Blazers select Arthur with the 27
Buying the 27th pick may be the smartest financial move Paul Allen has made in a long time!

I think I remember reading that batum had no intention of going back to Europe for next season.

Gah, he's gone. I still like him. Batum is a better prospect though. Good lord, KP is really, really good.

Re: Blazers select Arthur with the 27
Batum is the only player I'd have wanted more than Arthur at 27...so, haha, it only gets better, somehow.

Re: Blazers select Arthur with the 27
I'm still trying to figure this out. Wasn't Arthur projected as a lottery pick and Batum was projected as a late first rounder? Why are we throwing in a second rounder to make this trade?

Because perceived value by fans and people who run websites means nothing? Evidently to people who do this or a living, Batum was a better actual value.

Batum has been projected as a lottery pick for a long time though, he only recently fell.

I posted on the other thread, but my guess is that Batum was wanted by the Spurs at #26, so Portland HAD to pay to get up.

Re: Blazers select Arthur with the 27
Batum and Arthur were both projected in the same area, but they both fell from health concerns. Batum with the heart, which has been cleared, and Arthur with the kidneys, which seems like a mistake.
