Wow, awesome article. I like him even more. He really seems like a great guy, with a good head on hsi shoulders. Thats cool that he was helping feed the children.
Anyway, an interesting part about him being a PG:
Quote:
As he takes his game to the next step, the biggest step, he still is trying to shake his combo-guard label.
He insists that he is a lead NBA guard.
"He's a point guard," said David Lopez, who coached Bayless for four years at St. Mary's, where he averaged 28 points in four All-Arizona seasons. "He has been all his life. People who don't know him well say that (he's not). The NBA people know."
In his only year at Arizona, where coach Lute Olson left for personal reasons before the season, Bayless was counted on to score and gave up the point position to Nic Wise in a more methodical offense coached by Kevin O'Neill.
Bayless averaged 19.7 points and four assists and shot 40.7 percent beyond the 3-point arc.
Some NBA mock drafts have him going to Seattle with the fourth pick.
Bayless, who has bulked up a little each year since he was a freshman in high school, is a great athlete with a greater work ethic. Tell him he can't play point guard, and he'll do everything he can to convince you otherwise.
"I'm a point guard," Bayless flatly says.
He is driven by critics, finding a gym any chance he gets.
