Bayless: One or Two? (With crucial quote)

“I just want to be a part of it. I don’t want to be the man, I don’t want to be nothing else like that. They already have Brandon Roy – he’s the All-Star. They already have Greg Oden – he’s the No. 1 pick. They already have LaMarcus Aldridge who’s probably going to be a future All-Star. I just want to be a part that comes in and helps them win some more games.”

I love Bayless.

Re: Bayless: One or Two? (With crucial quote)
He doesn't sound very selfish to me which is a good thing. I really hope Bayless gets a lot of minutes even over Rudy, I know it is Summer League and it means nothing, but I have loved what I have seen from him and eventhough Rudy is projected to be good, I would rather see Bayless play more than Rudy.

Re: Bayless: One or Two? (With crucial quote)
quotes:
“Whatever the coach wants me to do, I’ll do,” Bayless said. “I’ve stressed that since I got to Portland. "
“I don’t really care about that [MVP talk],” Bayless said. “We’ve lost the last two games. I think every good thing comes with winning and we have to figure out a way to start winning some games.”
i think he meant to say...shhhhhhyttttttt in the second quote...man this guy takes losing hard. I can see now how hard it is to interview this guy, especially after losses.

I hope Bayless means what he says. If so, then we are so lucky to have him on our team. Sounds like a perfect fit.

The statistics are telling -- starting power forward Josh Davis and starting center Chris Ellis produced just eight points Thursday, for example -- but Williams said the group also is stalling the offense by failing to set screens and call out screens. As a byproduct, Bayless has taken it upon himself to relentlessly drive toward the basket for scoring opportunities.

For the people blaming Bayless.

A Bayless comparison - Tony Parker. We haven't yet seen the same distributing abilities from Bayless, but they both love to drive. It's funny because I've always felt that Roy is very similar to Ginobli.

Maybe this is a sign he's won a spot on the roster?

Presumably Bayless would too, then (unless anyone out there thinks we might not keep him...). I think it's more likely that they want to FORCE Bayless to be the PG to see if he can pass at all. (If only Diogu could have played...)

I think it's possible they might rest Kopponen to make certain Bayless is playing point all the time, for evaluation and development purposes.
