Patyon taking to easy way out
Its hard to see my favorite Point guard go to the lakers. I guess I gave my hopes up on getting payton , Im just wondering when will the light shine on us , lakers always get what they want , it seems so easy for them

LOL, all you have to do is sign the most dominant center in the game as a FA, then pull off a draft day trade to get one of the best SG's in the league....It's quite simple really

Can't help but feel like all he's gonna get is a McRing. Cheap through and through. Just jump on that bandwagon Glove.
Weak. Still, it's gonna be interesting to see if it all collapses on itself.
I'm not holding my breath.

well, I remember the hype a few years ago when we were fielding a team of Sabonis, Stoudamire, Wallace, Pippen and Smith, with Bonzi, Augmon and Grant off the bench.
great talents sometimes converge, i suppose, and that's just the way it is. Payton and Malone have more than paid their dues in this league, and will do a lot more to earn their ring this year than Mitch Richmond or Isiah Rider did.
i always respected both those guys, and have really enjoyed watching them play. (yes, even Malone). I can't really bring myself to resent either of them for what they are doing, so I guess I'll just have to *cringe* hate the Lakers a little less.

You guys are funny! GP should come to Portland why? Damon is still here and so is Patterson, Sheed and Bonzi show up every other game and Cheeks although a good coach is no Phil! As a Laker he'll get to create some amazing basketball with Kobe and Shaq who do bring it every night and if they land Malone, Shaq's life just got 90% easier out there.
I think the message here is money is not worth the headache of being a Blazer. The Blazers have a team that no one wants to deal with and the top players want to avoid. I will say this again now is the time to clean this damn house!

Wow no respect for Malone and Payton. Joining the Lakers..wow what a challenge to get a world championship ring. I seriously will not watch a single nba game outside of hte blazers next year. NBA season is going to be no fun next year. Thank God for college sports.

If Payton came to the Blazers, it would be for more money. If he went to the Lakers, it was to gravy train to a title.
Either way, he was open for criticism. I gotta admit, as much as it hurts to miss out on him, it's refreshing to see someone chase winning rather than money.
I'll be interested to see how hard Portland pushed to get him...

I agree with you, I take that pledge as well.
Watching 3 to 4 super teams from the West beat up on the rest of the league, is not my idea of entertainment.

You Portland fans make no sense. Payton and Malone are taking less money to have the chance to win a championship. They are both sacrificing monetary gain and stats to achieve the ultimate goal: winning a championship. It's not "taking the easy way out". Malone and Payton should be commended not criticized. You are just bitter because Payton wouldn't come to Portland, and quite frankly who could blame him? With all of the negative publicity constantly surrounding the franchise it's no surprise Payton is taking his game to a true winner, the Lakers. Look at the situation objectively and you would realize how foolish you guys are making yourselves seem.

The lakers are the cheapest team in basketball, ask anyone not wearing purple n gold sunglasses. Now I still would have repsected Malone if he went to SA or Dallas, because they are "real teams" and same for Gary.

Has anybody thought that Patterson might not have wanted GP? GP has a temper, and putting him in Portland could be the final match that lights the whole forest! Could you imagine Damon sulking all day, GP yelling at Sheed and Bonzi and Patterson and GP going at it? How about Patterson, GP and Zach going at it? This was a smart move and a blessing not getting GP, this team would have erupted with one more temper. I think our pres saw the writing on the wall, and urged the organization to pass. GP would not have been the smartest PR move. Ya think Damon was at GP's house while he was in AZ? Maybe Damon was bringing back some of GP's finest!
I'm sort of relieved that GP's not here and his new big arsss contract either!
