Uncertainty
I have noticed in the last few weeks that the emotions of posters tend to be a little on edge.
I am wondering if the uncertain direction of the Blazers is teh catalyst to this edginess.
We have been fairly commfortable for the last 9 years as to what would be happening over the summer. Well we all know that things have changed and are continueing to change.
There is frustration of a lack of GM, a new President mass layoffs, and let's face it there is lingering Hope/fear that this tem will get a massive overhaul.
All that being said let's remember we are all confused about the summer, let's try to be accomodating of that.

buyer's remorse
I'm wishing that I never renewed my ticket contract. I don't feel like supporting this organization any longer.
Where's Paul Allen? Where's Patterson for that matter? I think they owe it to he fans to speak up about what they are doing and WHY they haven't hired a GM. I'm sick of it. All we are getting is the same lip service we have always gotten. I want answers. I think they OWE us answers. Heck-we ALL help pay their bills!
I have never felt this way about the Blazer Organization before.
I am tired of it.

PS to my rant
I LOVE the NBA and I am feeling resentful at the Blazer org for making what I love so much, so miserable! I want to love them and support them but they are sucking the life right out of me.
I have been super supportive through all of hte garbage we have been dealt...I was thrilled at the new horizon's that glimmered as Paul spoke of how he wanted change and then Patterson came along and all looked so promising....now here we are-apparantly adrift at sea...
Anyone else feel that way? What would I want to see? Well-I think a little communication goes a LONG WAY! I swear if they would just talk about it I'd feel much better. I feel very alienated as a fan.
Thank goodness for baseball!

Just be a little patient...I'm sure changes will come.

What, you want them to make a public announcement every day saying, "we still haven't found the right person for the job?" What organization, in sports or elsewhere, operates that way?

Hey I think we all consider them "our" team and let's face it the question marks are unsettling, I think we all want to know what to expect, but honestly we won't know till the new GM is in place. I have read somewhere that it will hopefully be resolved no later than Monday, buit here's to hoping.
Let's take comfort in assuming the reason it hasn't been completed yet is they are being extra cautious about who they finally settle on. Someone that honestly has teh good of the franchise in mind.

not every day and for every move...problem is-they only speak when provoked by trouble or they finally have made a decision...
I'm just a really frustrated Blazer fan today.
Don't you think updates would be nice?

we've heard that they're getting the GM "in the next couple of days...and thursday by the latest"..
Just say "ok. Here. you got the job..." and have a press conference with a japanese guy in a mask, and have him speak japanese...And say things like (through his interperator) he's happy to be here. THings will change, and I "will destroy you Damon Stoudamire next sunday at the Rose Garden! If you win, you can smoke all the ganga you want, and you can unmask me in public!! If I win, you must give up the rest of your contract, and go into re-hab! OOooooooh yeeeeaaaaah! Dig it! BRUTHA!!! "
and then have him flex, and pose, and then hold his hand up to his ear, waiting for the media to cheer or boo him. And then storm out of the room to AC/DC's "Back in Black" while acting like you're going to smack the press...
yah..thats it..

i think its more to do with personality conflicts on the board, 2 most noteable - if people would only take the personal crap outta their posts , use a pm or better yet stop acting like a clown - we'd be a lot better off
build a bridge n get over it

No offense, but some of the regulars on this board remind me of Archie Bunker in the episode of "All In The Family" where Edith began to go through menopause. Archie's reaction?
"If you're going to change, I'll give you 5 minutes. Now, go ahead and change!" (not a direct quote, I'm just going from memory here)
When you're talking about change for an NBA team like the Blazers, you're talking about several years. It hasn't even been several months, yet!
I understand that people are emotionally attached to the Blazers - I am and I live 1000 miles away from Portland. I was in a funk all evening because of the Gary Payton to LA situation. I check the web religiously to see if there are any updates on the Blazer GM search. Heck, I was almost in a state of depression for 3 days after the 2000 WCF.
But if you really want change - significant change - for the Blazers, then you've got to be patient enough to let the changes take place. And, like I said earlier, this is a process that is going to take several years, not weeks or months. That's the reality of the league right now.
And in regards to the GM search, that means being patient while the Blazers search for the "right" person to participate in the change, not just the first available candidate. It's OK to be frustrated with how long it's taking - I know that I am - but don't lose hope. I really do believe that Patterson will be the primary agent for change (look at what's already gone down), and that he needs to find the right partner (GM) to facilitate the change completely.
So, Steve - I trust you know what you're doing. And I'm willing to be patient in the search for a new GM - just as long as you hire him/her in the next 7 days!

I disagree about the "lack of information" that you are saying our present mgmt has provided. Actually, I would say Pattersen has been MORE forthcoming than the previous (Whitsitt) regime. He talks to reporters more, he doesn't evade the tougher questions, he is more accessible. He mentioned what happened with Payton (which is a heck of a lot more than Whitsitt would ever do), and more importantly WHY POR turned the opportunity down. Which BTW really bugs me how 910 FAN has been INCORRECTLY reporting that all day. According to the interview I heard with Pattersen, Payton WANTED 4yrs @ $10mil per to go to POR and we refused, the FAN says POR offered that and Payton refused. Semantics, but dammit those idiots on the radio should get it right!, they did the frickin interview with Pattersen for god's sake! And our fantastic (not) media is INCORRECTlY reporting on the orginizational layoffs as well. They were announced over SIX months ago, this orginization has TWICE as many employees as other NBA orginizations do, not to mention the economy isn't that great. And to relate orginizational layoffs to the current group of players as if mgmt were CHOOSING to keep players over support staff is ABSOLUTELY IDIOTIC. There will be changes, but let's give them some more time shall we? If by the end of summer things are still status quo, then yell, but yelling now is a little premature.
As far as the GM search, Pattersen DID give you an update, did he not? He said, hopefully end of the week, beginning of next for GM hire. What more do you want? Names, numbers? Come on, no orginization worth a damm should be giving that out.

It's OK, but it's a little unrealistic to be frustrated with a senior level hire taking - what, 6 weeks? In the real world, executive searches can take A LOT longer than that.
