You do know that on a marketing level alone, Jianlian is a more important commodity than Oden. He wont get picked before Oden but he will certainly be picked before Budinger. What makes Budinger a better player than his teammate Marcus, and guys like Splitter and Horford. With your rationale, Budinger should be the second pick.

I agree. He is not talking probability, he is talking lock. Buddinger could go as high as 3rd IMO even though his more likely range is 5-10 after Oden, Durant, Young, and Noah. I think he is going to be a better, more marketable player than Morrison.
Oh and Aaron Gray is not going tobe a 1st rounder. He will put up great numbers but as soon as he gets in workouts, GMs will remmeber he has no athleticism and will not be to productive in a the faster paced NBA. He essentially has to play center because he cannot check PFs in the NBA today. I think there will be more early entries than both draft boards have at this time and the good teams will be making more promises than usual especially to international guys.

good post, not sure he goes after young and not sure he is more marketable than morrison but i think you are right on there with the top of the draft.

Re: Chase Budinger
No way Buddinger goes ahead of Young or Durant this year. He's a very nice player, but he's still underdeveloped physically and has a ways to go with his game off the bounce. The guy can jump, but he doesn't have a great handle or first step. He could reach top 5 status in 08, but he would go after at least 4 freshmen this year. (Oden, Durant, Young, Hawes).

To me Hawes(hometown boy) and Budinger need to stay in school for at least another year and i think at least Spencer will. Budinger sort of came on late last year and blew up over in europe when he scored 42 in a game in some tournament over there. I dont see anyone cracking the top 2 of Oden and Durant right now, after that its too early to tell. just my take.

that would be a surprise and you would be running the risk of a very questionable pick in a great draft. cant teach size though for sure.

Re: Chase Budinger
if everyone who's expected to come out comes out... next years draft is gonna be crazy. I really like the future of the nba. and the future of college basketball. I think the new age limit rule has helped basketball overall.

The age limit has nothing to do with the quality of the kids just to throw this in. If this was some of those mid to late 90's classes filled with so many HS busts, we wouldn't care about an age limit. Thankfully the talent level in American HS kids have been on a steady up tick through to 2006.
2007, 2008 and 2009 are top heavy classes as well.

Re: Chase Budinger
I've watched Durant a few times now and I'm not ready to slot him in as a lock to go #2 overall like most on here seem to be doing.
