Re: Chase Budinger
His athleticism and lack of committment on defense reminds me of another Arizona Wildcat, Richard Jefferson.

Re: Chase Budinger
Mike Miller
Actually this might be giving him too much credit. Miller is a very talented player, he just doesnt have that superstar instinct. He is a pretty good scorer and underrated athlete

I think he's going to be solid, not spectacular but a solid contributor.

I thought he went to Bishops Catholic school? Which is also in San Diego (same conference as Horizon where Jared Dudley went) so it doesn't really change your point.

Kevin Martin is a good shooter, but he became a good three point shooter in the NBA. Budinger has much better form and is a better long distance shooter at an earlier age. Their mid-range game is the same, they are both nearly automatic from 12 feet and in. I think Chase will be a 20 ppg scorer with regularity in the NBA. With that stroke and his athleticism he should be able to duplicate Kevin Martin's success.
Just sit back and watch Budinger this year, because he is going to break out as one of the nation's premier perimeter players.

Re: Chase Budinger
The thing about Martin is he was one of the best scorers in college basketball as soon as he hit the scene. It's just he was under-recruited so he ended up at Western Carolina (which is surprising considering he was from Ohio). He avg. a lot of points in college (I think over 25 ppg). If there is one thing Martin does at every level is score. He would have avg. even more if it weren't for Bibby's selfishness last year.

Re: Chase Budinger
Budinger has the edge in athleticism, but is well behind the curve on defense compared to Kevin Martin. I agree with HFK; comparable but probably won't have a better career.

Yeah, Martin is a very good scorer, I am just excited to see how Chase does with the offense designed around him. This wont be the usual Arizona team where 5 guys score 12+ ppg. I think Budinger will near 20 ppg, with Bayless following around 15-16, and everyone else behind. I guess we will just have to see how well Chase performs, but Arizona's system is perfect for him, because he can get up and down the floor and doesnt need to dominate the ball to score. Dont get me wrong, I love Kevin Martin and im not sure Chase is the type of pure scorer that Martin is, but I think he can have at least the same level of success in the NBA as Martin is having now.
