Tyler Hansbrough
6'8, 245 PF - North Carolina

I'm not sure what exactly to make of this guy as far as being an NBA prospect. I think he'll fit in somewhere, just wondering how good he can be.
Is he gonna be another Marcus Fizer - undersized, bullish PF that killed in a major D1 conference only to be a fringe NBA player?

Re: Tyler Hansbrough
Tyler Hansborough is 2 years older than everyone in his draft class, so he's a little more mature...etc...He's a great player at the college level, how will he pan out? Well he's only 6'8" so i'm guessing he will be one of those fringe 1st/early 2nd undersized PF's.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough
The way he responds to contact...is just special. He looks more athletic and more skilled this year. He might not ever be a star, but he's going to be an outstanding NBA player. Guys with Hansbrough's aggressive instincts don't bust.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough
Problem with Tyler is going to be his footspeed and athleticism in the pros. Watching him, he just isnt as fluid as say a Branden Wright. But what seperates Tyler from all those other bigs is his heart and determination. He works so damn hard on the court. He never lets his limitations stop him. He will definitely help some team, plus the fact that he actually likes to work in the post is also a plus

Re: Tyler Hansbrough
Tyler will be a very solid pro. His size will limit his effectiveness against NBA PF's, but his tenacity will get other players in foul trouble in time, and his strength will allow him to finish in most one on one battles. He's used to finishing and 1's with 2-3 guys hanging on his arms. His free throw stroke is a positive for a big man, and he runs the floor relentlessly. He also has very quick hands on defense to create some turnovers and make up for his deficiency in post defense.
He turned 21 years old 12 days ago, so yes he's old for his class, but most sophomores are 19 turning 20 this year, so he's basically a year older than his peers. Take McRoberts for example, Tyler is a year and 3 months older than him, and he's a year and 15 days older than Marcus Williams.
I wouldn't take him in the lottery, but somewhere between 15-30 would be a solid pick. Especially if you can pair him with an athletic big man. Like say pairing him with Dwight Howard would be fun to watch for many years.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough
Tyler looked bad against Duke last night.
When guarded by 7'1" (though slow-footed) Brian Zoubek, he couldn't do a damn thing.
At one point he was posting up 6'6" David McClure, one on one, and McClure rejected his shot right back at him.
He was also rejected by 6'3" DeMarcus Nelson.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough
This guy has Carlos Boozer potential. He reminds me so much of him. Just get that jumper down.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough
He's undersized and it takes way too much energy and effort to score. Sure, its working for him now, but when he faces NBA caliber defensive players at the next level its going to be a totally different ball game. Just look at how much effort he expends just to score. He reminds me a lot of Mark Madsen. I really like him as a college player though, just don't think he'll translate well to the pro's.

They're both very strong, but Boozer had infinitely more refined low-post moves than Hansbrough.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough
Late round to early second round. He hasnt shown any progression from last year to this year. His footwork is still as bad as ever. Now I'll give him credit he is extremely strong and will probably be a double digit rebounder eventually in the big leagues, but he has a lot of work to do on his game.
