Mutombo was nothing to sneeze at. No where near 7-7-5. If Thabeet learns to rebound like Mutombo then he'll definitely be top 5.

Re: Hasheem Thabeet
Whenever I read about him I can't help but think "Sam Dalembert." I ask anyone who's seen more of him than I have, is this at all fair?

Even if that's all he is, Dalembert is pretty effective defensively at 6'11 and also owns a $10m average-salary contract. This dude is 7'3; he has the potential to be a nightmare on defense.

Re: Hasheem Thabeet
Dalembert is 6'11" 245. Thabeet is 7'3" 265 and hasn't even started lifting weights yet. He's an entirely different physical specimen, though not nearly as quick or agile as Dalembert. There's no comparison other than shotblocking ability.

Re: Hasheem Thabeet
well, i wrote a paragraph on why they are different...but i deleted it as I just don't see the comparison at all. Yes, they both block shots, need work on their strength and are raw offensiely. But to say they are similiar based on that would be ridiculous as one guy is a freshman in college while the other guy is a seasoned NBA vetern.

Re: Hasheem Thabeet
Why the heck does NBADraft.net have him going 4th in this coming draft? That is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. An NBA team would be retarted to take this kid in the lottery. He has ZERO skills on offense. To say he's raw offensively is an understatement. Sure he averages over 4 blocks a game against cupcake city schools, but you've got to at least have an idea of what to do on the offensive end to get drafted high. Right now, I'd even take one of Lopez twins before I'd take Thabeet.

Re: Hasheem Thabeet
I like how he moves his feet when defending the perimeter and how he picks his spots as far as challenging shots and boxing out. This shows that he's taking to coaching and is willing to hustle.
However, he knows absolutely nothing about offense. He fumbled too many passes, doesn't know how to keep it high and can't dunk when there's anyone within 3 feet of him. He makes Roy Hibbert look like Magic Johnson. He needs to stay in school probably until he's a senior if he wants to be decent.
HOWEVER, I have faith he will be a capable offensive player with time. Hilton Armstrong was nearly as raw and developed into a lottery pick after spending time working on his skills. UConn has too good a track record with big men to think he'll stay this bad.

Re: Hasheem Thabeet
i think that nbadraft.net is a retarded site anyway, there draft boards are always full of crazy players that have zero chance of getting drafted.
At the moment they dont even have Paul Harris in the top 60 players in the 2008 draft when scout.com(and myself) say he`s a definite 1st round pick THIS YEAR if he chose to declare
