On condition of anonymity because the league fines teams for speaking about underclassmen, an NBA scout assessed a select group of underclassmen for Rivals.com. He offered his opinions on who is ready for the league and who would do well to hang around the college game for some more seasoning.

It's crazy to see these mock drafts where he's in the lottery. A guy like (Georgetown center Roy) Hibbert you've seen improvement, but this kid, you don't know if he can play. You don't know how skilled he is. I'm sure somebody will take him in the first round because of the height, but the top 15 is a major reach.

Re: Hasheem Thabeet
Everything that scout says about the guys who should stay in school is spot on.

Re: Hasheem Thabeet
Looks like Thabeet is staying at UConn.

He is sushi raw, but they know how to develop big men so I think he will become a player. Hopefully they work on his explosiveness, because to miss as many dunks as he does is embarrassing.

Once the Sonics removed Sund from the GM spot, Thabeet lost his best chance to get drafted early.

Re: Hasheem Thabeet
Good move i think, he needs to get better and not even entertain any thoughts about going pro till he does, there is some thought that he would have been picked probably in the 1st rd based on potential but he needs to develope and not try to bogart his way into the league. Good for him staying in school.

Re: Hasheem Thabeet
He wont regret his choice. It would've been way too early for him.

lol.
I was surprised to hear he's coming back when his family is supposed to be really struggling financially. He was easily a top 20 pick this summer.
Looking at the available bigs next summer, it seems that Hasheem would probably be the first selected - over DeAndre Jordan, Lopez, Love, Koufos, etc. I'm not calling Beasley and Donte Green bigs at this point.
I see Hasheem getting 10.0ppg, 7.5rpg, 4.5bpg and going top 8 next summer. UConn has literally all significant players back, so his stats aren't gonna explode. I bet he wishes Jeff Adrien wasn't there stealing all of his rebounds, lol.

He's really going to have to improve to be better than any of the guys you mentioned. Right now he's a project and a major one at that, as for the money i've heard that story too much, get a loan.
