Re: Bill Walker
This can't be ******* true, how unlucky can one man be. I think this also pretty much means he will go back to K-State, at least he didn't hire an agent yet.

Reportedly, he hadn't. He was planning to wait for the last minute, prepared to return to school if an injury happened, or if he couldn't get a promise. Hopefully it isn't another (his third!) ACL tear.

Re: Bill Walker
ESPN is now reporting that Walker did NOT tear another ACL and has decided to remain in the draft. The injury has not yet been disclosed, but was termed "minor," and not enough to keep him from being a first-round pick. I sure hope that's true. I hate seeing great prospects suffer through serious injuries that cause ruined, or at least diminished, careers. I'm still a little depressed that most of the world never saw a healthy Randy Livingston.

Re: Bill Walker
I'm glad that it's only a minor injury, but at the same time it will still hurt his stock. This also why I'm not sure if it's really a great decision to go pro, a healthy year at K-State could have led to being lottery pick.

Re: Bill Walker
If he was doing as well as people said he was prior the injury, he could have possibly come back, put up pretty big numbers and like you said, been a lottery pick. It's been obvious though that he's wanted to be in the NBA.

Re: Bill Walker
Not to mention, if he is going to be picked in the 20s now, that's a guaranteed 2 years and maybe more. With his knees' history, if he goes back, plays well, but OOPS tore another ACL, he's virtually undraftable, don't you think? Or certainly not a first-rounder anymore, at least. He might just be hearing good enough things to think it's worth it to take guaranteed money (and health insurance, and great medical care) now.

Re: Bill Walker
He is a very nice kid why does he have to have all this bad luck? I don't wish it upon anyone but if anyone gets the bad luck it should be the punks, and kids with bad attitudes. Glad to hear it is minor and I wish him the best in a speedy recovery. Me thinks next season he starts off in the D-League at least to start off. I hope he proves me wrong but decent ball-handling and shooting skills coupled with a porne to injury athlete make me believe he will start off or at least play some in the D-League next year. Prove me wrong Bill!

That could always happen. If his knees would done after another major injury he would have that money from his first contract, but it isn't as much as it sounds at the first look. He won't be able to live off of that for more year than a few years. At the end of the day it will still depend on whether he can live up to his high school hype or not and become a good NBA player, hopefully very good. The first contract is only an assurance for a couple of years.

Yes, but by going pro now he can land in Boston, and with proper medical care and rehab become a key component to a title winning squad. < | |
