Nothing says a young NBA player has to be an idiot with his money. Matt Bonner rode public transportation in Toronto, if I'm not mistaken. Of course, the NBA player has higher expenses than an average Joe. But in the circumstance we're speculating about--Walker staying in for some guaranteed money/security--he could be able to live his entire life off the guaranteed portion of his income unless he is a fool.
