His listed height is 6'5" and weight about 210 lbs. But, I think he's closer to 6'4". Anyway, he reminds me a little of Maurice Ager.

BTW, Marcelus Kemp play for the University of Nevada. Nick Fazekas has been getting a lot of the credits for their winning record so far. But, Marcelus Kemp's contribution has been as important as Fazekas. He's been averaging 19 ppg 2.7 rpg 2.5 apg. His stat doesn't look very special. But he's an efficient shooter; .494 FGP, .722 FTP in 18 attempts (he's .855 last year with 100 attempts), .515 3PP with 33 attempts. Other good things about him is he has strong upper body and also above average athleticism.

His biggest weakness is his ball handling skill.

I think he's a good late 1st round to mid 2nd round prospect. Nevada hasn't played against any major program yet. But he's worth to keep an eye on.

Snyder can only dream to have Kemp's basketball skills. Snyder is more of an athlete and not a very good shooter. Kemp is a skilled offensive player. He can score in different ways. Midrange J, slash to the basket, shoot treys, good FT shooter. But, his biggest strength is his shooting.

I saw him the first time when he's playing next to Brandon Roy at Garfield HS. Roy was a 3 back then and Kemp was the 2. It was like Roy was the all-around type guy and Kemp was the scorer. He's fun to watch. Kemp has always been a very good shooter. He has a pretty looking J. He could've gone to Washington, Oregon, or Gonzaga. But he chose to go to Nevada.

One of the biggest knock on him is the ACL injury that caused him to miss the whole 2004-2005 season. But he came back strong last year and he looks even better this year. He's also short for an NBA 2 guard. 6'4" and a half (He's grown an inch since high school, he was 6'3"). But, he's been working on his body and he's now 210 lbs from 180 when he was in HS. And also he's 22 going on 23. Pretty old for a junior. This is because of he redshirted his very first season. And another redshirt because of injury in 2005.

He'll need to repeat his strong performance at the tourney last year if he wants to be a 1st rounder. But definitely has the talent. He caught scouts attention when he scored 34 points 5 rebounds 2 steals 14-22 FG 3-7 3P 3-3 FT in Nevada's first round exit. He and Fazekas was the only players that showed up in that game. But that game was not a fluke. Kemp is a good basketball player. And it shows this year in his increase in production.

Back, to the Snyder comparison. Not a good comparison. not even close. Kemp has much more offensive tools in his game than Snyder. Not as athletic as Snyder. But, he's an NBA calibre athlete. In HS, Kemp was a better athlete than Brandon Roy. I really can't think of a comparison. I think Cuttino Mobley is the closest in terms of the offensive tools that they both have. But, I think Kemp is the better slasher. If Kemp is 2 inches taller he'll be a lottery pick.

Nice game by Kemp tonight leading Nevada to a win against San Jose State without Nick Fazekas.

Kemp put up 33 points on 12-23 shooting 5-7 from beyond the arch along with 8 rebounds and a steal. Nevada made a 7-0 run early in the second half to take the lead. Kemp scored the 5 points on that run. Nevada never behind again after that point.
