Derrick Rose
I have watched about 10+ videos of Derrick Rose in the last 3 or 4 months, and i have to say he is the most awe-striking athlete i have ever seen from a point guard ever. He is so rediculously quick and fast, with outstanding jumping ability, and his coordination is top notch. He seems to have a feel for the game (shown in his passing and ball handling, reading defenses) that you just don't see from a high school kid. He really really plays hard! His defense could be all league some day. His jumper seems to have some kinks to work out, but i like the high release point. and for a 6'4 player at the point guard spot, and his jumping ability, few players in the nba will block him.
The comparisons to Payton (a more athletic payton) that was provided by www.nbadraft.net seems to be valid.
The funny thing about his athleticism is that he had a fast break dunk where he slowed down a bit and then effortlessly did a full rotating windmill off two feet. He dunks everything.
Everything about him seems like he will be a stud. With all the Mayo vs. Rose talk, i think that will cause both of them to elevate their game like a tmac vs. kobe type.
I wonder what team will get the luck of winning the lottery in 08 to draft this guy.. He seems like a very grounded kid with a quiet demeanor with a lot of fire and energy inside that comes out on the basketball court.. What are your thoughts on this young Phenom about to become a Memphis Tiger?
p.s: i have heard that heights ranging from 6'3-6'5 and weights varying from 180-210. What is his correct height weight, he seems close to Eric Gordon's size.. i would guess 6'4 195/200

Re: Derrick Rose
I've always thought of Rose as "Stephon Marburys athleticism and talent with an unselfish, point guard mind". While his recruitment was one of the shadiest I have ever witnessed, he seems to be a "good kid" as far as one can tell. It's wrong to heap future all-star or future hall of famer on a kid, so I'll just say he is going to be real good someday.

That is a good point, he seems to be very unselfish with his play. He seems like a winner. I do not know whether he will goto the hall of fame cause he is still in high school, of course, but i think that his talent is special, and i have never seen a combination of athleticism, height, coordination, and desire in a point guard since Payton (though i saw only a bit of him in college). I think this guy is going to be better than mayo. If he gets a coach that can help him have consistency on his jumper, he will be near-impossible to cover. Can't wait to watch him, i hope the schedule a usc v. memphis game next year.
any one have the answer to the height/weight question (merry christmas).

Oden has got all the hype that Rose hasn't yet. But Neither seem like showboats, thats probably what makes people like them more. as opposed to most prima donnas- OJ Mayo for one.
