Re: Kyle Singler
What is his NBA position? Small Forward? Either way, it's gonna be a tough transition. The small forward position is easily the deepest position in the league in terms of talent.

I'd think Shane Battier before Dunleavy.

So Kyle will become an overrated defensive specialist?

Not necessarily, the question was did he compare to Dunleavy, to me he rebounds better and is a better defender thus the comparison to Battier. Ideally he would be Larry Bird but i dont want to start a tidal wave in here.

So I think your saying he will have the offensive similarities in comparion to Dunleavy, but he will also be as good a rebounder and defender as Battier? I agree partly with that statement. I think of him as a poor mans Larry Bird on the NBA level.

Re: Kyle Singler
I doubt he'll be as good of a defender as Battier was, but I agree - he'll be better than Dunleavy. Offensively, Dunleavy is a good comparison.

Re: Kyle Singler
I'm not so sure about the Dunleavy comparisons. They obviously make sense since they're both big, white, SG/SF's who can shoot, but it's unclear whether Singler can make more of an impact in the college or pro game. Dunleavy didn't get much hype at Duke because of Jay Williams and Boozer, but he was very solid. And a lot of people forget that Dunleavy was drafted 3rd overall, and while that was a major reach by the Warriors, it wasn't really considered as such at the time. Only time will tell how good Singler can be, but it's complete folly to assume that he's better than Dunleavy based purely on Dunleavy's flop as a professional. Dunleavy was a major piece of Duke's national title team when he was a sophomore. Singler won't have that same opportunity, but I'm skeptical about whether he could have played that same role.

No, no. Please don't mention the race thing. The comparison is that they're 1) both around 6'8"-6'9"/220-225, 2)they both played at Duke, and 3) both of them possess the ability to handle the basketball, shoot from outside, shoot from midrange, and take it the basket. Just to be clear, we're talking about the Dunleavy who played at Duke in his junior year, not the skinny little kid that came to Duke.

Those three were equally some of the most-hyped Duke recruits in the past ten years. All three played from day one, however Dunleavy ended up with mono and sat out a considerable part of the season. But as it relates to the draft (which is what I think you're getting at), none of them were considered top NBA prospects even after their freshmen seasons. The closest one was probably Williams. Boozer especially wasn't after he sat out the second half of his sophomore season with that broken foot.

From what I saw last weekend, theres no superstar on this Duke team. There are a a bunch of really good players, but there's definitely no Jason Williams, Carlos Boozer, etc. Sinlger is going to have plenty of opportunity to show his stuff.

Kyle Singler
What do you guys think about him?
Hes a 6"9 big man with range and a nice inside game. Strong rebounder. People are comparing him to dirk.... but does anybody else rememeber a tall 6"9 Blonde Hair kid with range and a nice inside game who went to Indiana State. Thats who Singler remind me of the most.
