His efficiency might be slightly better, but more balance also leads to balanced scoring and that would mean that his scoring numbers would go down.

Re: Brook Lopez

It's quite odd that people will cite Darrell Arthur's having to share the basketball as a reason for his numbers not wowing anyone, then when I mention that Roy Hibbert shares the basketball with six other scorers in a half-court oriented system, people cite his numbers suck. Interesting.

Re: Brook Lopez

I think the knock on Hibbert is not that his stats aren't overwhelming, more like his stats haven't improved from last year to this year.

Read what I wrote again. Read the reason why his numbers haven't improved. People once again are blinded by stats. He has improved his field goal percentage and his anchoring in the post, made Georgetown the best defensive team in the nation. I won't talk about Hibbert anymore, but judging him by stats is wrong when you take into account the system he plays in.

Re: Brook Lopez

I'm not stating my own opinion here, but the general opinion seems to be that he hasn't improved one bit this season.

Re: Brook Lopez

These concerns about Brook Lopez's field goal percentage are borderline ridiculous. Not only did he shoot 50% his freshman year, he gets very few easy buckets in the Stanford offense. Unlike other big men who score on feeds and garbage points, most of his buckets come from isolation, where a few bad games have dragged his percentage way down. He will get many more easy looks in the NBA when he has competent guard-play.

He also missed the first 9 games against cupcake schools, where his stats would have been padded tremendously like most other big men's. If he played the full year, would anyone really be talking about 47%? I see a low-block big man with good touch, moves, and hands. There's no reason to assume that he's a Jermaine O'Neal/Antoine Walker amalgamation of inefficiency.

wait so you're defending his shooting percentage and him as an nba prospect because he didn't get to pad his stats against cupcakes? that's ridiculous.

fact is brook lopez was the biggest guy on the court essentially every game(and the other biggest guy on the floor was his teammate and brother) and he still couldn't manage to shoot a better percentage. if he can't shoot a good percentage when he always have a size advantage, what's going to happen when you take that advantage away?

So you are just going to ignore the fact that he did not have competent guard play all season. What other 7 foot player going in the draft this year didn't have competent guard play and was able to score efficiently?

By the way you do know most of the time he and his brother were alternating on court
