Re: Marreese Speights
Speights is a headcase. Come to me when he shows he can do anything consistently.

Anyways, Marreese needs to play with this type of energy and urgency every game. He had had some real stinkers lately up until this game.

Yeah, but in addition to being an offensive freak, Al is ripped and plays above the rim.
Is Speights worth adjusting my schedule to see? Florida just seems so uninteresting this season.

I've watched them four times and regretted it each and every time. They're boring and pretty horrible to be honest. I watched them lose to Florida State, Ohio State, squeak by Georgia Southern (why I watched that game I may never know) and beat Alabama. Don't waste your time. Maybe next year or the year after, but this year watch something else.

Re: Marreese Speights
If they finish the SEC with even a .500 record, they're probably tourney bound, crappy non-conference schedule or not. The committee isn't going to leave the two time defending champs out if they can help it. The team is getting better as the season goes along and I actually think will be pretty solid at seasons end... they're really, really young.
Next year they should be a top 15 team, though. They have an excellent big man class coming in with Kadji and Vargas, a lightning quick jitterbug in Erving Waker, and a solid all around talent in Ray Shipmen.

Florida isn't as bad as people make them out to be, although they couldn't hold the past two teams jockstraps. Calathes is as good as any guard in america, thats right in the entire country. Jai Lucas is a nice PG who takes care of the ball, and runs a team very well. The rest of the team is solid.

but hibbert is. he's a starting center in the nba. he's not great, but he's a starter. lopez isn't. what kind of center prospect shoots 47% from the field?

Lucas is a nice individual player, but he's absolutely not been running the team well. He has a lot of point guard work to do before you can say that, the team is better off with him not in the game to be honest. He'd be better suited as a sparkplug off the bench ideally (which obviously won't happen).

Florida sophomore forward Marreese Speights will keep his name in the draft and not return to the Gators.
Speights told Billy Donovan on Thursday morning that he wouldn't return to Florida.
Speights averaged 14.5 points and 8.1 rebounds for the Gators. He is projected as a mid- to late first-round draft pick.
The deadline to withdraw from the draft is Monday.
A formal release from Florida is expected later Thursday.

No surprise, I never expected him to go back as he should be gone in the middle of the first round.
