Marreese Speights
Ford has Mo ranked #6 in his Top 100 for '08, FWIW.

Re: Marreese Speights - Top 6 in '08?
Wow, he showed a lot of promise in the very few minutes that he played, but this is unexpected. Looks like they are trying to get the jump on the next "Noah." A player coming out of nowhere in their sophomore season.

That also made no sense to me.

Re: Marreese Speights
Speights has a ton of talent, but has yet to prove himself with starters minutes. He has lottery talent, though, no doubt about it.

Re: Marreese Speights
It's definitely presumptive to place him that high right now, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's where he ended up. The kid has a ton of tools. He has great size, strength, agility and a great skill foundation. He just has to get some experience. We don't really know yet how he'll handle being the main guy, how well he'll react to adversity, how good he'll be passing out of double teams, etc. etc.
But I'll tell you this: the kid can flat out score on the low block. That I can tell you. And he's going to be a terrific scorer next year. He has a soft touch, good instincts and he's very aggressive. All the reports I've been hearing is that he has been absolutely destroying the top recruits who have been visiting and working out with the team. "Child abuse," I believe was the description I was given. Evidently, he has grown by leaps and bounds in just the two months since the season ended. Definitely one to watch, but I agree it's too early to project him with proven guys like Hibbert.

So far, so good for Marreese. Granted, Florida's played nobody, but still... his offensive efficiency is incredible. His overall game needs a lot of work, but his offensive game and touch are remarkable for a young big man. Offensively, he's already a better player than Noah and Horford ever were. When he gets the ball in the post and makes his move, I feel like it's always going to go in... he's that talented offensively.
Now, he's very raw in the other areas of his game, particularly defensively, but it's a work in progress and with Donovan coaching him up, I have no doubt he'll start to perform in those areas as well.

I feel bad for NBA teams this year. There is a lot of fools gold in this year's draft

Are you insinuating that Speights is fools gold? He may be raw, but he has the chance to be a very, very good offensive low post player. How the rest of his game develops is yet to be seen.
